I have been in Berlin 12 times now, and everytime I get a currywurst somewhere in the city, more or less at random places. This time i dragged my family to Konnopke's, because its famous, and supposed to be good. I don't know if we where just came at a bad time, but I have had better currywurst along the... More

No great flavor, no atmosphere, no reason to return. All in all, I was incredibly disappointed . . . and I do love a good, flavorful currywurst!

We had fries and beer at this place, which a lot of locals love for the price and taste. I think it's a good stop over on your way to exploring the city as it gives you just the right amount of energy to get you going :)

Wow! So good, so inexpensive and so fast. This is Berlin street food at its best. If you are in Berlin for the first time...visit this place! If you are returning to Berlin...visit this place! I was told about this curry wurst street food place by a person who lives in the area and enjoys curry wurst. Great recommendation! While... More

If you are in Berlin, you must try the famous currywurst. You can find it in many places, but Konnopke's is one of the most famous ones. There is a good variety of wurst, but of cours you should try the curry one with some pommes (french fries). It is cheap, tasty, and located in a unique place (under a... More

This place is very traditional East Berlin Currywurst. Rumor has it that it is one of the oldest Currywurst shops in Berlin! It is a great stop to take visitors and not a bad choice after a few beers! However, I have to say I am more a fan of a Rheinland Currywurst!!!

Delicious food and friendly service at the original Berlin currywurst stand! Impeccably clean, sheltered seating. Try this for a touch of historic Berlin!

My partner and I headed here for our first experience of currywurst after having read about Konnopke's in 2 different guide books for Berlin. My partner was especially excited to try currywurst, whereas I went in with lower expectations of sausage covered in curry powder. There were a lot of locals having a mid-afternoon snack which we thought was promising.... More

the curry wurst is quite good and meets expectations. they do little else, fries and maybe a beer and drink, but then it stops, and as the place can concentrate on Wurst, they do it well there is little else to say, except - its VERY cheap, good, and we had to wait in a line, but it moved quickly

And didn't disappoint. It may not look like much and the seating may only consist of what appears to be a converted bus shelter but the curry wurst more than makes up for it, amazing!!

Staying in Prenzlauer Berg

Neighborhood Profile
Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighborhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.
