The food here is awesome. Great beer choices and the ambience is wonderful. The waitstaff was more than courteous when I realized I did not have enough cash to cover my meal, a quick run to the ATM and I settled up. If I ever have the privilege of being near there ever again I will for sure go back.

We went based on the TA reviews, as well as recommendation from our hotel. Very glad we did. This is apparently one of the oldest buildings in Rothenburg, and is quite romantic. The lighting was somewhat low, and there's a real old-world feel to the place. The service was excellent, and the staff spoke excellent English. We had the Cheese... More

We made reservations earlier in the week by phone, which I recommend because it was full and people were turned away while we were there. The service was friendly and fairly fast (by German standards). Ambiance was good. Food was delicious. We had 3 entrees, a bread appetizer, and 2 colas for less than 50 euros.

Hostess and waiter could not be more friendly and outgoing. Everything was very good especially the Chestnut Soup with Truffles. Restaurant is a converted house so it is small, quaint, and has a lovely fireplae.

Make reservations as this restaurant is small and very popular. My friends and I tried the soups of the day--chestnut and pumpkin. The pumpkin was good but the chestnut was amazing. We ordered the lamb on the menu and the specials--goose, wild boar steak, and veal schnitzel. The goose, schnitzel and lamb were very very tender. The boar was decent... More

We booked a table - essential in most of the good places in Rothenburg. A touch tricky to find in the dark (it is down by the ramparts) - the single waiter (from Milan) was friendly and helpful, enabling us to move to a different room because of a loud and unappealing American family. We noticed as we waited to... More

but sadly I did not feel this was anywhere near the best meal I've had in Rothenburg. We arrived around 6 pm without a reservation but lucky for us a table was leaving so we were able to sit. The menu is very limited on food and very heavy on alcohol choices and is in English. The prices are very... More

A must visit. The food is great, the people are great and helpful. The restaurant is relaxing which is perfect for a long days walk in the town. I ordered 4 dishes and each dish size is OK for 1. Soup of the day which was Tomato with a touch of hot spice was very good. The Franconian sausages with... More

We were told that this is in the oldest standing building in Rothenburg ODT. The wife and I enjoyed the ribs and the meat skewer. Everything was delicious, especially the fried potatoes and gravy from the skewer dish. I also enjoyed a local hefeweizen (beer) with my meal. The design and decor gave a nice old world ambiance. The hostess... More
