Rothenburg on de Taube is one of the most interesting places I've been and the Romantik hotel only added to our experience. My husband and I stumbled on the place while driving on the Romantic Road through Southern Germany. Rothenberg is just like the brochures...- a place where time stopped. We arrived near dusk and the front desk staff at Romantik hotel greeted us graciously, showed us a few room choices and helped us settle in. Be aware, this town shuts down early. We went for a stroll and found one of the few restaurants open. We also made sure to grab a dessert of snowballs (schneeball) first. We ate melt-in-your-mouth schnitzel and then explored the city. You can feel the watchmen still strolling the wall at night and the playful spirits throughout the town. The hotel was cozy, the bed surprisingly comfortable and the beautiful marble bathrooms astonishingly updated. Breakfast in the morning was traditional European, filling and delicious. The staff was absolutely fantastic to us there, allowing a late check out and valet parking our car. Highly recommended!More

We booked a meal for three which was beautifully cooked and served to us by attentive and caring staff, who did everything to make our visit the perfect end to a busy day. We were able to enjoy our meal for as long as we...needed in a warm and embracing setting - we could not have wished for more. Highly recommended.More

We had dinner, which was delicious, in a lovely comfortable room served by a very cheerful waitress. A fairytale meal 3 weeks before Xmas.

The overall service is excellent and staff and owners are very friendly. The restaurant is one of the best in Rothenburg. The hotel is located in the centre of the historic area and of the city. It was not my first stay in Markusturm and...it is always outstanding.More

We visited in early August 2022 with our American family and German relatives. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly (their English was much better than my German!). The hotel is conveniently located for exploring the town of Rothenburg. The building is beautifully kept, and...almost a museum itself. We had three rooms; a Classic, Superior, and Deluxe. All were very clean, and well furnished. We ate breakfast and dinner each day in the hotel dining room, and everyone enjoyed it thoroughly. Whenever we visit our German relatives, we make a side trip to Rothenburg. Now the Hotel Markusturm is a new addition to our family tradition!More

Stunningly beautiful hotel! The staff - Lilo and her family are extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel is very very cool- over 450 years old! Can’t find that history in most places. Very comfortable beds and the restaurant was very good!! We will be back...with the kids when we return!More

We ate here during a stay in Rothenburg recently. We were not staying in the hotel but had heard about the restaurant and wanted to try it out. It was definitely worth it. Seating is inside but tables were nicely spaced and we were seated...by a window which provided good air circulation. I believe our server was one of the owners of the hotel and she was very lovely. The food was delicious. I had the roast duck which was amazing. My husband had the zweibelrostbraten which was also perfectly prepared. One of my daughter’s had the venison stew. It was rich and flavorful. She has an egg allergy so the restaurant substituted rice for the spaetzle which we appreciated. Our son had Wiener schnitzel which he claimed was the best he had on our trip. Our other daughter had the baked cheese spaetzle which was also extremely delicious. Our kids are old enough to be well behaved and have good manners. However, this restaurant does not have a kids menu so probably is more appropriate for older kids like ours. There was only one dessert option which had alcohol in it so was not appropriate for kids either. It was a combo mousse dessert which was extremely good and both my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our desserts (and we made sure we went to get ice cream for the kids after our meal was done!). This was a gem of a find and we truly enjoyed our dinner here. It was amazing food and we would definitely eat here again.More

It's a charming family hotel, the personnel is just wonderful and always smiling and helpful! The feeling is like you are at home. Thank you very much dear Family Berger! More than amazing location! The rooms are spacious and exceptionally clean. The breakfast is excellent....A car parking is available near the hotel. We have visited many restaurants in Rothenburg ob der Tauber, but the restaurant of the hotel is one of the best in the old city. We would like highly to recommend it. You can taste their locally produced beer in the company of a fantastic meal. Also in the restaurant the staff is very sympathetic offering high services. Thank you Emira for your great service! All in all ideal for our needs. Very recommended. Next time for sure we will stay again in Romantik Hotel Markusturm. Thank you!More

We started our cycling vacation tour in Rothenburg ob der Tauber here, and we couldn't have a better start and location. Hotels were arranged and booked by Radweg Reisen, very good travelling agency. Super warm welcome by the Berger family who have been running this...hotel for 4 generations. Also had dinner here in the evening in this very good restaurant, compliments to the cook. Unfortunately, at the end of our cycling vacation, we couldn't book for an extra night, but the Berger family allowed us to park the car and bicycles for free, very greatfull family. All in all, we would like to come back to Rothenburg od Tauber, but especially to this beautiful romantic hotel, with super nice service.More

The service in the hotel is very professional but in addition we had perfect personal service from the staff in...the reception but also the breakfast is good and you can order fresh made eggs, etc. . We left with a wish to come back.More

We stayed at this historic hotel after breaking our journey from Hamburg to home on the Bodensee. The hotel is an absolute wonder built literarily on the side of the famous town wall. it is full of historical interest. The hosts are extremely welcoming and...the staff most helpful. The hotel contains many rooms with a tasteful mixture of the past and modern facilities all executed to perfection. The hotel also has two newly renovated apartments within 2 minutes walking distance with it’s own secure parking facilities. These have been renovated to an extremely high standard and again most tastefully . The restaurant in the hotel has a good menu and the food and breakfast are of a high standard. Highly recommended.More

Our entire party was quite surprised this was rated so highly here. The food was average at best, but very inconsistent. The pork was decent but the duck pales in comparison to another we had the previous night. The biggest sin here was that all...entrees were served with a frozen vegetable mix which is unacceptable when you are paying this much for a meal.More
