We had lunch at the Ratskeller during our Viking River Cruise last summer because the Danube water level was low and we were bused to Regensburg for lunch and sightseeing while the boat navigated through the shallow water. We had a set menu, which was not very memorable. The schnitzel and potato pancakes of other patrons looked much more appetizing... More

Great German food, great beer. Located right along the more travelled area by tourists it's still a fun place to eat. Kids menu available as well.

They gave us a limited menu as part of a group. I had better food in an orphanage when I was a child. Whatever they serve the regular patrons, I'm not interested.

While staying in Regensburg on a recent business trip I opted to eat in the Ratskeller one night to try the local food. It was actually the night the Euro 2016 started and the game was being shown on the TVs and being a football fan it suited me. I chose a meat skewer dish which was ok. It was... More

We did the official taste test -- this spot vs. Nuremberg sausages. And this spot wins hands down. We were served a plate of six small sausages with sauerkraut. On the table is a basket of bread and this absolutely awesomely delicious sweet mustard. We ate ours sandwich-style, cutting open the roll and stuffing the sausage, kraut and mustard into... More

When our waiter came to our table with menus, I showed him the bird feather and asked to have the table cleaned. He picked it off and walked away. Table was left as is , so I changed spots Our food was German sausages with potatoes salad and mustard. It was fair. Waiter was very uninvolved with our meal. The... More

We had a lovely lunch in the open courtyard at the back of the Ratskeller. The waiter brought us an English menu when he realised we were not German. My husband had an excellent local dark beer and I had a glass of Chardonnay. We had two main courses from the specials menu. Gnocchi with lots of cheese and vegetables... More

We wandered in with no reservations primarily because of the traditional music playing, that is where the authentic Bavarian Biergarten ended but the service was friendly, attentive and very helpful. We tried the beef soup with liver noodles, mixed grilled sausage platter and a Spanferkelbraten platter (pork was very tender) that came with a sauerkraut salad. All piping hot and... More

We were with a large group and all had the same meal so it is difficult to judge how the other dishes on the menu may be. I thought that the beef was okay - served with potatoes, vegetables and the strudel was delicious. It is right in the center of Old Town. They do have some tables outside in... More

It is situated down a few steps in part of the old Town Hall close to the Tourist Information Office. It is in an historical building with an attractive vaulted ceiling, and although there is a bar it is predominantly a restaurant as the white Formica-topped tables neatly lined are not really in keeping with a traditional German beerhouse, nor...
