for 12.50 euros we received, beautifully presented, the spinach and gorgonzola cheese dumplings in a diced tomato sauce along with a light beer.It was a wonderful lunch. So tasty. I asked the owner,Manuella, for the recipe.

Hardy food is best enjoyed especially if it's cool and during the festive season. We wandered and checked out what choices were offered and decided on "Altstadt Beisl". Here we enjoyed their "Gluwein", "Hirschgulasch" deer gulasch and "Knodel" noodles. A nice light and hardy meal for a cool winters day.

My husband and I enjoyed one of the best meals of our trip at this restaurant. We were greeted by the owners, served a wonderful meal and beverages, and enjoyed a break from the never ending monotony of American piped in music, and heard some nice, quiet recorded Bavarian music with our meal. It was a chilly night and the... More

Due to a huge downpour we sought shelter and an early dinner at the Altstadt Beisl. Not knowing anything about it, we were taken by the friendly welcome by the lady owner and the down to earth, very reasonable and tasty food that was served with a very nice glass of beer and good cheer. After the meal we thought... More

What a neat little spot hidden away. We went out looking for a spot to eat and found some of the places closed early. Found this place with its outside seating and it looked like the "spot" The outside seating was a "two by two" seating up against the outside of the building. Cool place to hang out but not... More

In Passau, for the start of our bike tour to Vienna. We were strolling through the old part of town and saw the Alstadt Beisl. It is slightly off the beaten track tourist track and has some character. The owner explained the homemade German menu to us and we had the most delicious goulash and dumplings and meatballs and potato... More

Had a hell of a time finding it, because it is most definitely not in Domplatz. Wasn't overly impressed by anything. Good lighting.

Every dish was very tasty. We must had eaten goulash a dozen times over 21 days but none came close to Altstadt Beisel's.

One of the best meals I've had and I'm not a sauerkraut fan. Made me a fan. Fun location and the service was outstanding.
