Good spot in the centre of town. The 'piglet' was excellent. Nice atmosphere inside and the service was pretty good. We had a very enjoyable lunch.

We recently visited Passau on a Danube River Cruise. When the organ concert ended at St Stephens, I knew we had better get away from the throngs exiting the church. Thanks to this site, we headed to this friendly establishment for a fun and comfortable lunch. We dined in the garden, enjoyed great service ,good food and better beer.

Our tour group from our river cruise ship descended on this restaurant for lunch on a hot summer day. We were led back through the restaurant to tables shaded by grape arbors. The soup, schnitzel, spaetzle, and dessert were very good and the staff was efficient and friendly. There were other diners in the garden as well, so don't think... More

We missed spargel season, but were here for yellow mushrooms. We were seated in the garden area on a pleasant early summer night. Our server asked if we spoke German, and when we said not really, she immediately arranged for a server who spoke English. There was an English menu for the general menu, but our server was kind enough... More

From prior experiences I was not expecting to enjoy traditional regional German food. But the food here was exceptional, particularly anything involving pork. Service was very good, friendly to non-German speaking customers. Dining rooms are very old style and beautiful. Highly recommended.

We were here during "spargel" (white asparagas) season (May) and were in teh "cave," which is the lower level of the restaurant. We ate fairly early (7:00pm) and found the cave to be a lovely location, well laid out for the number of tables - quiet enough for 4 people to relate easily and enjoy their time as well as... More

This is a place where you cannot go wrong. Always good food and if you are lucky enough to make it to their special cellar (in the back of the restaurant, entrance through gate to the left of the main entrance) you'll see that this one is rather special. Do stay away from the Biedermeier-coffee. It sounds attractive, but most... More

Spaetzel was outstanding. Venison was tasty but a touch dry as was the roasted pork. Portions were substantial. Real local place in the best sense. We appeared to be the only non-Germans and the restaurant was busy. Staff was very attentive and helpful. House wine very tasty.

A charming and unpretentious place with copious portions of classic German food. Schnitzel, tafelspitz (boiled beef)' grilled local trout, all good. Nice wine list, lovely service, full of happy, well-fed people.
