Everything about this restaurant was exceptional. The attentive staff, the ambience, even the having to ring the bell to gain entry added to the experience. And then of course the food. It was, quite simply, the best meal I have ever eaten anywhere. The two Michelin-starred menu (there are no choices) was sublime. From the five different amuse-bouche, through two... More

Although the fish and meat elements of each course at this intimate two star were sublime, the house speciality is to work magic with vegetables. From the fifteen hour baked beetroot to the under stated "celery with potato", the flavours were sensational. With several amuse bouches preceding the seven course tasting menu, and a brilliantly matched flight of wines to... More

Without doubt the most incredible experience and flavoursome food I've ever had. I highly advise letting the sommelier choose the wine to accompany the food. You will not regret that decision. Expensive restaurant but you cannot let price put you off this experience. I look forward to returning again next year.

The food was uniformly excellent, especially the 4 amuse bouches & vegetables. Also had a lovely Franconian Riesling. However, we started at 7 PM & finished (w/o coffee) at close to 11 because the service was dependent upon all of the diners, regardless of when they started, finished their meals. In other words, we all got our desserts at the... More

Great meal. Multiple amuse-bouches that were fantastic. The use of vegetables was eye opening. Mildest venison steak that I have ever had. Parsley ice cream, who would have thought of that! The wine pairing was interesting with an emphasis on local wines but also had a couple that came from Croatia and even California. Refined but relaxing atmosphere. Expensive but... More

Go here. Order whatever suites your fancy off the menu. You will be happy you did. Let's just say Germany isn't "known" for it's cuisine. Yes, they do pork, sausage, etc. But can you REALLY eat that every day. No thank you. This restaurant however is a hidden treasure. Everything on the menu is so incredibly good. It's a great... Really, there are two reasons why this lunch failed to reach the standard. As well as being rated (and priced) with two stars, there was no choice in the menu. In other words the restaurant had decided what we should eat. Now, when this is the case, a "wow" factor is called for, and it simply wasn't there: Slivers of... More

Well, of course it was not very cheap to at mr köthes restaurant, but it is - in my opinion - worth every cent. Fantastic quality, composition, texture and taste of every single ingredient, served in a very welcoming yet professional manner by the service crew. Especially the lamb showed what one can do when he knows what he does.... More

Loved the discreet setting, superbly professional and friendly waiter; and certainly the food. The menu, which looks like a shopping list for the greengrocer, is in fact a combination of cleverly worked ingredients. The cucumber dish was so special that we asked for the recipe. However I don't think I have the time to dry it for 14 hours at... More

A very interesting experience. The restaurant feels like you are almost dining in a large house with friends. The menu is very much down to the chef and so are the wines but that adds to the experience. We really enjoyed the variety and the flavours of both but it is very expensive; even for a 2*. But excellent never... More
