About
PASSION-Without passion, Tantris would not exist. Taking inspiration from his travels, the passionate gourmet Fritz Eichbauer commissions the building of his dream restaurant in Munich more than forty years ago. Tantris marks the beginning of a new culinary movement in Germany. Perfection - the term “Tantris” is derived from the Indian Buddhist culture and symbolises the search for perfection. And a visit to Tantris should be the epitome of perfection: From the seventies-era architecture to the Michelin two-starred cuisine right through to the international selection of wines and the friendly, professional service. ENJOYMENT-Right from day one, the emphasis at Tantris has been on enjoyment.

I’m a regular visitor in Munich due to my job, and one of my hobby is to discover best restaurants and bars of the places which is very local situated in Munich and showing up excellent quality, so it was obvious to visit Tantris. If...you are visiting one two Michelin starred restaurant, your expectations is definitely very high. We decided to go for the 5 courses tasting menu, and that was right choice, that was more than enough. We received a variation of salmon and char, cucumbers cream, radish and egg marinade, sounds like a a simple combination but the interpretation is interesting . All the food at Tantris is based on the best quality of ingredients. The sea bass lobster with leek puree, rost onion cream has been my favourite dish. And than: The wine pairing was a perfect supplement of the food, we recieved a nice bottle of Cantina Terlan, 2017 Pinot Bianco "Vorberg", just fab. The service were ver attentive with a young and talented team. The interior design is full budied 70's, yellow light bulbs, lobster red walls, very funky, don't miss a trip to the bathroom, even there you'll be suprised , both are impactful in their design. The food is sublime, the wine cellar overwhelming...this dining experience has been all in all fantastic. The prices may be high but Tantris offers an experience unlike any other.More

One of Munich’s pride , Tantris . We received a gift certificate to dine here as a couple . It is known to be one of the best in the city, a Munich institution. The staff was friendly and not pretentious. The meal it self...was expectantly superb . Do people come here to be seen , maybe but the chef and kitchen staff do prove they are worthy of their stars and reputation .More

This restaurant might be interesting with their decor and setting 20 years ago but now it’s looked dated. The 80’s menu was a bit boring considered it’s high price. The executions were ok but there was nothing to report. The services were mixed and quite...casual. The ambiance was like in the 80’s. They were kind not to charge my son’s main course though. The place is still very popular with the locals. I reckon they need to improve their menus to compete with the new competitors.More

Let's start saying that food was good and wine selection excellent. What i didn't get is the surprise effect. When eating in michelin stars restaurants I expect to be part of an experiment, every bite need to be different. I was host of a corporate...event so maybe i didn't pay enough attention to details but i had the feeling that something was missing. Restaurant all in all is nice, but in my opinion too big. I need a second roundMore

TANTRIS is highly regarded as one of Munich and Germany’s best restaurants and has been so for many years. Well, the truth is that it is an Emperor’s cloth. It may have been good one day but not any more. The decor is of the...70s. Some may like it but if we follow elegance then it is definitely not. Budha statutes do not match with the decor even if it is the 70s. A modern model life size photo also does not match. Who would put curtains this ugly in a bathroom? Yes decor is a matter of taste but there should a basic level of consistency and matching. As for food, it lacks creativity and taste and was uninspiring. Who would serve all types of desserts on one plate?! The cheese course was one piece of cheese that was bought from a supermarket shelf. The quality of food served was inferior. The octopus dish was served cold, and I mean COLD. There was not a single dish that I liked. Service is from a different planet. Waiters act robotically to do their job with no feelings nor interaction. For example, one of the dishes was so bad that I only took one bite and left. The waitress came to take the plate and asked “did you like it”? Before even answering she took the plate not even noting that it was returned almost untouched. At dessert and while serving the plates, the waiter just throw the plate on the table, and I mean literally throw. I asked for lemon and they forgot it. The highlight of the service was asking for service charge!! A descent restaurant would either add it automatically to the bill or leave it to the customer’s discretion but to literally ask for service charge to be added to the bill is unheard of, at least in Europe. In brief, TANTRIS needs a full revamp.More

The food is good, but not Michelin 2 star. There were errors here. The food was sometimes over salted, and the desert was two dishes on one plate, the amazing delicacy of one being overpowered by the other. At lunch asking staff to recommend a...bottle of wine as against taking the flight means that one is not charged 110 euros for a decent bottle which would cost less than 20 euros in a shop? There are very good things to be had.But over priced and struggling to be seen as its rating.More

Was here with my girlfriend for a lunch menu with matching wines. The food was good but the service was much better! They look after all details. Very spot on!

40 years ago, Tantris revolutionised the food scene not only in Munich but through out Germany. 40 years on there are no world class restaurants in Munich and Tantris rests on its faded laurels. The only signigicant change to the original decor is the addition...of unbelievably tacky photos: otherwise the orange colour is a bit browner and the tables closer together but...we all try to grow old gracefully, don’t we? The problem is that Tantris isn’t growing old gracefully. It’s trying really hard to live up to its 2 Michelin stars WHICH IT DOESNOT MERIT. The food is blah (which is a connoisseurs technical term for BORING). Frankly, is there anything more disappointing to go to apparently one of the best restaurants in Germany and find the food boring? Variation of salmon, sea bass with marinated octopus and veal filets/medallions: seriously they want €200 for that!!! Maybe for the black truffles (which by the way are a dime a dozen)? I forgot for the €200 you get the above three uninspiring dishes plus two desserts.... whooppee. The service is pompous, fussy and slow. Since Tantris has no real competition in Munich, it’s become a complacent and fat cat, like many of the diners who don’t know What ridiculous prices are being charged for very average food and condescending service.More

After my second visit to Tantris, I now fully understand all the fuss. I was admittedly a bit overwhelmed by the persona of the place on my first trip. That said, this time I felt the beautifully appointed restaurant was a prelude to a wonderful...dining experience. Service and presentation were eclipsed only by the exceptional quality of the meals themselves. The lobster with lobster ravioli was one of the most delicious dishes I have ever had. Although a la carte ordering is an option, the 5 course meal is not really that much more expensive (primarily because everything about this place is expensive!). Thankfully, the occasion was to celebrate the consummation of a new business relationship, and my dinner guest was a client who appreciated the magnitude of the gesture. With that, grab a client, prospect or just start saving. Tantris is definitely worth a visit.More

We shared the 8 course menu which was very good. The wine though was the winner in the night at least for me and the sommelier was fantastic. We have home some ideas of what we liked (Australian wines we like from home) and he...directed us to some amazing options. The cost overall was pretty high so be prepared but the whole package made it worth the money. They like to take their time to maximises the experience so don’t be in a rush.More

The best would be to contact the restaurant directly via email. With their perfect service they surely can offer you something. Hope, this helps although a little bit late:-)
