Stopped in for a delicious breakfast. My husband thought the white sausages were terrific! The avocado with crème fresh was great. Very good service and English menu available.

GLOCKENSPIEL CAFÉ RESTAURANT & BAR is a nice Café with astonishing views over the Neues Rathaus (& Glockenspiel) and Marienplatz. Glockenspiel Café Restaurant & Bar has a wonderful view over over the Neues Rathaus [New town Hall (& Glockenspiel)] and Marienplatz. We have ordered in...the afternoon Coffee and although we were not exciting about the coffee, we found amazing the view over Marienplatz and the Neues Rathaus, in the heart of Munich. We liked the Glockenspiel Café Restaurant & Bar and perhaps we will visit it again.More
Probably the best place for breakfast in Munich. The best view in town and such good food, too! If you come here, you won't regret it, even if it's over a cup of coffee.
I was here with some friends once for drinks and we loved the ambience, it was magical. We also enjoyed our drinks and the vibe in there. The service was so friendly, attentive and polite, so I decided to go there more often. Anyway I...went there a couple more times with my boyfriend. We had the pumpkin cream soup as a starter and I promise: this soup will be the best pumpkin soup you´ve ever tried! We also tried the grilled argentinian sirloin and the risotto, it also was delicious! We absolutely recommend this place and we definitely will go there more often!More
Nada recomendable. Nothing recommendable. We were waiting for 45 minutes to attend and serve us. The very haughty waiter didn't even apologize. He brought us wrong what we had asked for. A horror. There are a thousand beautiful places with very nice waiters in Munich. It is not at street level and has no views.More
I like finding rooftop bars and restaurants in cities where I travel. Cafe Glockenspiel is a great place to sit and shoot golden and blue hour photos while the sun sets. They had a wonderful selection of gin and some great beers. I was very...pleased. Would have been even better if there had been a balcony so I did not have to shoot through the windows.More
Whilst the food was good/average and was well cooked the service was unfortunately poor. We sat waiting for menus and did not receive any. We had to get our own menus. The restaurant was cold. Payment was not possible due to a faulty card machine...so cash had to be withdrawn. No English MenusMore
We got lucky getting a table on the side of the restaurant overlooking the Marienplatz Glockenspiel. When we arrived, there were a few people lining the hallways, waiting for a random group to get up so they could snag a table. I went into the...dining room we eventually had lunch in to talk to the hostess, and I'm glad we did. We had to wait for maybe five or so minutes, but we were eventually taken to a small table. My husband labeled that "persistence", but in reality, I didn't want to have to slog through the rain to find another spot for lunch. It was just after noon, and even though the Christmas Market was open, most of the restaurants in Marienplatz were busy. It was just the season. My request (in German) for two English menus was met with a smile and acknowledgement, in English. We started our lunch with two pints of a Hofbräu Münchner Weisse (their beer menu is slightly slim), and settled in to review the menu. I went with the lamb meatballs, served over potatoes, and with a creamy leek sauce and crispy onions. My husband opted for the Chicken Saltimbocca, which came with a small pasta side and salad. They also brought a basket of freshly-sliced bread to the table (which I barely sampled. I know, who AM I, even?) The food was fresh and tasty, though I did enjoy my meal way more than my husband enjoyed his. He did like the flavor, but said it wasn't as cohesive a plate as he'd expected. The chicken was wrapped in thin layers of prosciutto, and he had a small side of fresh pasta with a red sauce and some vegetables. Meanwhile, I made short work of my dish, which featured irregularly-shaped meatballs (you could tell they were handmade). The meat had good flavor, and paired well with the creamy leek sauce and potatoes. The fried onions added a nice bit of crunch and flavor, as well. Our waiter was friendly and seemed to enjoy chatting with us in English (I did battle a lot of fear of speaking German, because I'm a ninny). The space was warm and close - lots of tables with lots of people - and it had a nice view of the square below and the Glockenspiel across from us. We weren't there at a time when the Glockenspiel puts on its show, but we'd caught that earlier in the day (from the ground level), so it wasn't a draw for us.More
This cafe restaurant bar, has a lovely view on rooftops on-front. Very crowded. Perfect for a brunch, quite expensive for breakfast only. I ordered GLOCKENSPIEL, rich tasty combo as u can see in the picture down, we ordered also eggs aside Cz it wasn’t included....The waiter was a bit messy and kind of overwhelmed. 25€ per person for a decent brunch.More
I stopped in for a late lunch after seeing this restaurant on TripAdvisor. Even at 3PM it was packed. As I was alone, I was immediately seated and even got a table by the window! They had an English menu and specials. Unfortunately they were...out of a few specials, but since I was so late to eat it wasn’t surprising. I ordered the gnocchi and couldn’t haven’t been happier. After a cold day exploring the markets, it was warm and hearty. And the view can’t be beat.More
We walked up there without a reservation figured we would check if there was an average wait. As soon we entered we realized the place was packed and wondered if perhaps we should make reservations for next day, we asked one of the servers he...was very dismissive - he said no no and walked away. So much for the Christmas spirit in Munich!More
People come here for the view but the breakfast was very average. Service can be rushed and inconsistent - our server was decent. Prices are okay.
Had a late breakfast there yesterday. The hostess initially gave me a tiny table, where i was basically leaning on an indoor plant. This in spite of 1/3 of the tables being empty. Explanation? "They are all booked". After a second request, my waiter gave...me a very nice table at the window with a view of the Glockenspiel and a polite request to give back the table in an hour. No issue. My mistake was ordering huevos rancheros. What I got was more like a "English-Mexican" - two fried eggs and neat piles of baked beans and guacamole, a stack of toast bread and corn crisps. Meanwhile the table next to me had beautifully presented traditional Ruehreier und Brotkorb … LOL The coffee was good, the service from my waiter prompt, courteous and friendly, price reasonable for the location and I caught the Glockenspiel. Conclusion: as per the review title. Will come back, but no "innovative food" next time.More
Birthday dinner what a Great restaurant, we enjoyed our meal, but the view was spectacular. Had a great time and I highly recommend this restaurant
We were visiting Muenchen (Munich) for Oktoberfest. We watched a good portion of the Oktoberfest parade and then our friends suggested this restaurant. The restaurant is on the fifth floor and has a very good view of the Glockenspiel Clock. There was a wide variety...foods available and they were serving breakfast items during the lunch hour. Our friends had been to this restaurant previously and because it is on the fifth floor, most tourists do not know of its existence. Worth finding if you are in the area of the clock.More
