We very much enjoyed this traditional Munich restaurant -- it was my birthday and a nice treat. We were able to eat outside on a quiet street.

Munich is not rich in culinary choices. There is the standard beer hall fare, several undistinguished Italians, and a few “star” restaurants, much touted but hardly worth a second visit. But there is one lonely pinnacle, a reliable refuge from the average and the mere trendy, the restaurant Boettners. Located in the center of the city, it can boast a... More

We reserved over the internet from Canada, looking for quiet and exceptional food during OktoberFest. We found both. A sweet pea soup with lobster claws was novel and delicious. My wife had a lamb filet beautifully prepared, cooked a point, exceptionally sauced served with spaetzle and lovely veg. I had the saddle of venison with a port and currant reduction,... More

We went to Boettner's because of the pretty good reviews on TA. I guess we should have known better when no one at our hotel had ever heard of it! The restaurant itself is very pretty, but the food is just average. The owner's dog sat on the ground next to our table which was sweet, but then he yelled... More

Despite the traditional decor, spotless table setting and attentive service, the food at Boettners was a considerable disappointment. We both had lobster bisque and I could not by any stretch of the imagination believe this had been created from scratch and raw lobster. It had far too much cream. We settled for different types of steak and found both entirely... More

We had a lovely dinner here. The restaurant is charming and the staff very happy and attentive without being bothersome. Perhaps we didn't make the best choices for our courses and maybe should have gone for the set menu as our mains were both quite rich and heavy, but that was our fault not the chef's or the staff. An... More

We went to Boettner's to celebrate my mom's birthday. Since I brought some flowers, they quickly put it in a vase and placed it in the center of the table- excellent service from the beginning! We ordered the 5 course menu with wine pairings. It was every bit value for money at EUR65 only. Most memorable was the lobster bisque... More

Stumbled across Boetnners by coincedence. Staff were very friendly and food was superb, we really enjoyed the food and the pace of the meal was just right. I felt the meal was overpriced even though it was exceptional. It may have helped if we had researched the place beforehand then the prices may not have come as a shock. I... More

We have eaten at Boettner's twice now - once in 2008 with friends and once this past week as a couple. Both times the food was unbelievably good and constituted two of the best meals we have ever eaten (we were worried the second time that it wouldn't live up to the first, but we were not disappointed!). This past... More

Had dinner tonight with daughter. We sat outside. Charming area of Munich. We ordered from the regular menu, and the portions were substantial. The house salad had a great creamy dill dressing and my daughter's fish appetizer with caviar was also substantial. We both had different veal dishes- both were excellent. I found the prices reasonable for a restaurant of... More
