With its Bavarian cuisine the Wirtshaus Ayinger am Platzl embodies lively inn tradition at a historic site. From original Munich 'Weisswurst' and roasts to fresh fish from nearby lakes - we serve fresh and creative dishes in the heart of Bavaria's capital. Of course no meal is complete without the exquisite beers from the family-owned brewery in Aying. Six draft beers are available daily. The furnishings are rustic and cosy, and 140 seats provide lots of authentic "Wirtshaus" character. Eighty additional spaces are available on the patio in the summer. Yes, this is traditional ambience - but that does not mean doing without modern conveniences: Free wireless LAN means that business or private matters can be attended to directly.

Visited twice, once for drinks & then returned the following day for a full meal. Both highly recommended! Excellent Wiener schnitzel & sauerbraten washed down with fabulous beer straight from the barrel. You must also try the amazing pear brandy. Many thanks to Max who served us on both occasions & was friendly, knowledgeable & charming

We had dinner here to experience a Bavarian experience and it did not fail to impress.
The waitress was super helpful considering none of us spoke German and she was really helpful with menu selections. I had the Roast Pork which was amazing but massive!! The dumplings were great although preferred the bread one to the potato one but that’s just my choice.
My colleagues had Wiener schnitzel, the vegan salad and beef. All of which were equally great, super tasty and great portions.
For dessert we shared a shredded pancake which was incredible.
All in all a great experience, brilliant food and great service.

A great night. We were skeptical whether the restaurant might be overpriced and mediocre due to the tourist location.
However, our experience was excellent. The team around the restaurant manager and the staff was very well-rehearsed and extremely accommodating. You can tell that the business is well run. The team works quickly but without any hassle. Although we were there Saturday night at full operation, we were greeted very personally and always served friendly. You had the feeling of being perceived and really welcome and not just being another tourist couple that needs to be handled. Both our service Daniel and the restaurant manager took the time to talk to us a little and were very interested in our feedback.
The Ayinger beer was perfect and in the kitchen you know what you are doing. All the food was handmade very well and delicious. The Kaiserschmarrn is highly recommended but one serving for 2 people is good enough.
The dishes are a bit more expensive but you like to pay for an all-round great experience. If we are back in Munich, we will gladly come back and can highly recommend Ayinger.

Fairly limited choice of menu and quite pricey. Opted for the meatballs as I have enjoyed this dish in other Munich restaurants. Unfortunately on this occasion I was served 2 anemic looking burgers which were lukewarm and bland. Side was a sloppy potato salad containing cold cucumbers and radishes, very odd and not to my liking. Ayinger weissbeer was cold and tasty. Service was adequate but as cold as the beer. Wish I'd gone elsewhere.

We tried to have dinner one day and they informed us that it was impossible, as they only served with reservations and recommended the open table app. Not to mention that this was said to us in a rude manner, almost as if we had offended someone. Sitting at another restaurant that welcomed us, the app provided several reservation options close to the time we tried. Because I really liked the brewery, I booked it for lunch on another day and when we arrived we were well received, but with several empty tables. The food was good, but I thought the price was too high. And to make matters worse, they didn't serve Celebrator, Ayinger's best beer. In other words, a bit disappointing.

Thank you for your feedback. We regret to read that your first impression of the Ayinger am Platzl was negative. We do recommend making prior reservations, especially during the weekend and the Oktoberfest period the demand is very high. To make a reservation it is not necessary to download the app. Please accept that we cannot at all times occupy all tables as we sometimes need to manage our kitchen capacity. We serve 8 different Ayinger beer on tap. Our dinks menu is available online. We regret that this variety is insufficient in your opinion. We are pleased to read that you have enjoyed our Bavarian dishes.

The Barista was the rudest one existing so far. I mean, he looked problematic while working but that didn’t mean he can take it out on customers/tourists just trying to eat and drink. Horrible, horrible service! We called his attention many times but didn’t really care at all. The tall waitress was not even helpful. Disgusting.

Busy place. Wife had roast pork, it was very good. I had goulash. Unfortunately it was too salty to eat, I just could not eat it. Fortunately portions were generous and I ate half of my wife's dinner. Too bad. I ate here several years ago and enjoyed it a lot.

Several things were good: the location, the beer was fresh and good, and even the food tasted good. Unfortunately the service was both rude and slow. The middle-aged female waiter started off by being quite rude from the start. When we had some simple questions about the menu, she became almost furious, thinking that it had already been explained in English! Then she apparently forgot about us and it took a little forever to get ordered. Finally, she asked if we wanted to give a tip when paying. We really didn't want that!

A wonderful gem in the middle of Platzl. I became aware of it through the good reviews and we stopped here for lunch on a city trip to Munich. After a very friendly greeting from our waiter Dirk, the dish of the day was explained to us. However, we chose the more than excellent roast pork with two types of dumplings and coleslaw from the menu. What a poem! Super juicy meat with a crispy crust! My wife had the veal liver, which was even specially prepared gluten-free, i.e. without flour. It was served with mashed potatoes. The food is homemade and you can taste it. Drink prices are absolutely reasonable by Munich standards! We would be happy to come back.

The Ayinger was our hilite for years
for evening meals, OK, it was the meadow season and then it was a bit louder, you just have to live with it. The lady at the reservation was very nice,
then I wanted to order a water 0.25 with the wine according to the menu, the waiter said he only had a large 0.75 7.90€.
My wife ordered a trout skewer
4 small slices of potatoes and very tasteless and pale, the fish was OK,
my half duck was OK but average.
To sum it up, actually a nice place, but we have eaten better there for years because the prices are higher.

I booked a table via opentable .
When I arrived at the restaurant I showed my reservation to a rude ponytailed waiter that pointed me a table literally under the rain and told me that he have only that for me without never look me in the eyes.Probably my reserved inside table was for a person he knew better than me.I said no and went away.Opentable contacted me because Aynger am Platzl said I never came to the restaurant!!!I told

We were having drinks next door to this restaurant and it just looked very interesting. Decided to give it a try and was blown away by the service and food. We had a dish of pork steaks they had marinated in a dark beer that was so tender it melted in your mouth. The portions were so big I couldn't finish the meal. The place has an interesting Bavarian hunting lodge kind of vibe. Would definitely eat here again.

Our family of four has a late dinner at this restaurant. We thoroughly enjoyed our orders of roast duck, toast pork and beef cheeks. Service and drink were also very good. Only regret was not being informed of “last orders at 9.30pm” and therefore missing out chance at dessert.
