With its Bavarian cuisine the Wirtshaus Ayinger am Platzl embodies lively inn tradition at a historic site. From original Munich 'Weisswurst' and roasts to fresh fish from nearby lakes - we serve fresh and creative dishes in the heart of Bavaria's capital. Of course no meal is complete without the exquisite beers from the family-owned brewery in Aying. Six draft beers are available daily. The furnishings are rustic and cosy, and 140 seats provide lots of authentic "Wirtshaus" character. Eighty additional spaces are available on the patio in the summer. We stopped in here due to a recommendation of a local we met. I am so glad we did. The food was amazing and the staff was extremely friendly. We enjoyed it so much that we stopped back an additional time on the same trip....I don’t remember the exact item name, but the Ox in a red wine sauce was fantastic. They book up really early so be sure you plan ahead.More

We were having drinks next door to this restaurant and it just looked very interesting. Decided to give it a try and was blown away by the service and food. We had a dish of pork steaks they had marinated in a dark beer that...was so tender it melted in your mouth. The portions were so big I couldn't finish the meal. The place has an interesting Bavarian hunting lodge kind of vibe. Would definitely eat here again.More

Busy place. Wife had roast pork, it was very good. I had goulash. Unfortunately it was too salty to eat, I just could not eat it. Fortunately portions were generous and I ate half of my wife's dinner. Too bad. I ate here several years...ago and enjoyed it a lot.More

Great service and wonderful food. White asparagus was in season so of course we jumped at that opportunity. Finished the meal off with a really good special pear schnapps! Worth the time writing this review.

We had dinner here to experience a Bavarian experience and it did not fail to impress. The waitress was super helpful considering none of us spoke German and she was really helpful with menu selections. I had the Roast Pork which was amazing but massive!!...The dumplings were great although preferred the bread one to the potato one but that’s just my choice. My colleagues had Wiener schnitzel, the vegan salad and beef. All of which were equally great, super tasty and great portions. For dessert we shared a shredded pancake which was incredible. All in all a great experience, brilliant food and great service.More

Reading the reviews, I realize that the negatives are one-off situations. But I could also read considerations that I agreed with. At first, when I entered the restaurant I felt a bit ignored. I was waiting at the entrance for an attendant to show me...the table. After a while I got a free table on my own (the restaurant was supposed to be at half capacity). As I sat and waited for a waiter to attend to me, for a while I continued to feel that I was being ignored. There was a table for 6 people with a reservation and I realized that they were very well received and led. After that moment of certain discomfort in the service, a waiter came to me. After that moment, I started to be very well. The food arrived surprisingly quickly (even before the beer - which should have come sooner), but everything was excellent. The waiters were very attentive. The food was amazing. I believe that the negative points were the initial inattention of the staff and the perception of having been passed over by the table with a reservation and more people, who arrived later and had their drink served earlier. I suggest more attention to customers who are alone - we have a great advantage: we don't spend a lot of time in the restaurant chatting and occupying a table without spending!More

I travel often to Munich and like to visit this restaurant. The hostess today said the restaurant was full, but the bar area is open seating. I said “great” I’ll wait for a seat at the bar and she said “we don’t have people wait.”...Kind of weird business decision. So food is so-so, based on prior experience, and interesting customer service.More
