The photo is what one of us had. The other had one with mushrooms. Both were excellent. We shared a table with a mother and son from another part of Germany and that was our first time sharing a table, but worked fine. Server was attentive. Whole experience was a nice surprise along an interesting street, easy walking from marketplace.

Old German house with nice local beer but a pancake house, no sauerkraut! I'm a sucker for things labeled 'traditional' so had the pork loaf and egg, filling but reminiscent of spam fritters of school days, my wife did better with a pork, onion, bacon and peppers version, bit more expensive but much tastier. Too few staff so service was... More

Although it looks just like any other German Pub, the Allgäuer Hof in the Fischerviertel Old Town of Ulm is well worth the visit for their amazing pancakes. Our waiter was polite but mechanical. However, the pancakes were so good we returned again a couple of days later. The pancakes are 40cm in diameter and ours has caramel sauce, vanilla... More

We ate outside (which wasn't the nicest atmosphere) but the pancakes were good-not great. I had a spinach, runny egg, and raw bacon pancake, while others in my party had Kasespatzle which was excellent. For dessert, we had a pancake with delicious applesauce and whipped cream-a much better choice. Not sure I would return.

On our trip to s.Germany with my sister and her husband we stopped in Ulm for a pancake lunch at Allgauer Hof. The pancakes were very thin like our mother always made, but a lot bigger, so my husband and I shared one with bananas and eggnog. My sister had one with just butter and powdered sugar. Brother in law... More

One of the worst dining experiences. Drinks with water mixed in them so totally diluted and tasteless. Pancakes took exactly 100 mins to come! The food totally not worth the price with a big thin pancake with tiny filling only in the centre part, no salad or side accompaniments. My pancake had no salt in it and when i requested... More

Situated in the old town of Ulm, quiet surroundings and plenty of outdoor seating. Excellent savoury and sweet pancakes. Seasonal menu that changes every week. We had a savoury pancake with turkey breast strips, chanterlilly mushrooms (local delicacy) in a creamy sauce, absolutely delicious. The sweet pancake with caramelized banana and home made vanilla ice-cream was excellent too.

Looking for a traditional German meal, but sick to death of schnitzel and wurst? Try the Allgauer Hof! This is a charming restaurant in an old half-timber tavern-like building, with outdoor tables in the summer. Their specialty is pfannkuchen - Germany's answer to crepes. There are all sorts: sweet, savory, hearty... Entrees are served piled in the middle of giant... More

There are no disappointments with German restaurants. Service is quick and efficient, portions are huge and potato is given as side dish all the time. The pancakes were huge, but they are not rolled or folded, these are on the bottom and the garnish is served on the top. I had one with spinach and feta. The spinach was sitting... More
