Traditional German with a modern twist. I did not think it was too expensive for Stuttgart. Great view in the back of the Church. Friendly staff. If you need it ask for the English menu. Remember no tipping Americans! Just round up the bill. 3 to 5 euros on a 40 euro bill is more then enough..

The service is ok and the staff courteous but food is average and the menu choices kind of limited. Indeed too expensive for what you get. Average is the maximum they can get.

We sat for 20 minutes outside on the terrace, nobody of the service asked or bothered We got inside and still no service 20 minutes. Asking didn't help we were ignored. Don't go there I know we never will. Chaos

Very good food in a very nice location. Ate a local soup with local noodles and a roast beef with amazing potatoes. Don't miss

While the location and outdoor seating of the Alte Kanzlei are big pluses, the average to mediocre quality of my meal and perfunctory service made me question whether the restaurant is resting on its reputation. My dinner salad was limp and was sopping wet with a dressing that was not particularly flavorful. My kase spaetzle seemed to be made from... More

The setting is lovely, best if you can sit outdoors. Service painfully slow and borders on rude - don't go if you are in a hurry. We went for brunch, didn't get served what we ordered - e.g. No croissants, kept forgetting drinks. No apology for missing items either. Maybe better just for drinks 🤔

We thought we would have a relaxing coffee and snack at the Alte Kanzlei and wished we hadn't!! Coffee and drinks were served but the attitude of some of the staff was reminiscent of Fawlty Towers - comments were truly unbelievable

Dropped in for a drink late afternoon and liked the look of the menu so we decided to go back for dinner. We were able to get a table around 7pm but most tables were either occupied of had a reservation sign on them. Not a large menu back that made it easier to choose, all local dishes and very... More
