Very good Italian option in Heidelberg - with great attention from staff - and speaking English ! I had bruschetta and then spaghetti amatriciana - and portions were generous. Paid Parking across the restaurant. A bit pricy but well justifiable. Great option

THIS is the real Italian food. Franco - the owner - is on top of Italian cuisine in the Rhein-Neckar area since thirty years. Being his guest for over 25 years Franco's offering never disappointed, often surprised and always made me, my friends and now ally my family happy. Eating at l'academia is always an event and a pleasure for... More

The owner and busboy are Italian but must be Germans in the kitchen. The osso bucco was clearly boiled instead of slow cooked and added to a Germanized Italian sauce. The pasta was good but with too much sage.

One thing virtually all great restaurants have in common: go there any time, any day of the week and the owner is there and never sits down. That perfectly describes Franco, a native Italian, a consummate professional with an encyclopedic knowledge of wine and all around charming guy. The food is exceptional as is the service. Not much more to... More

The Capo was not particularly friendly, if anything somewhat curt. Service and food were not up to the standard that we were used to from our eight years living in Rome. Perhaps poor service is why the restaurant was less than half-full? Whatever it be, I would not recommend the restaurant further, nor would I come again.

Very nice place. Food very good but not huge portions and no pizza's. Shame the owner/older male waiter doesn't take some smiling lessons from the young female waitress. He spoils the place, rude and miserable.

I had several recommendations for this restaurant. Unfortunately, it failed to live up to my expectations. I had a seafood dish that was good value and well prepared. The taste was, however, more like Maggi seasoning than the fresh Mediterranean flavours that I expected. We also had a past dish with cream and ham - the ham was very good... More

Food was excellent, spaghetti de casa and spinazie ravioli as was the Pino Grigo. Restaurant is in a typical German style with swift service.

Very accommodating staff considering we brought a 1 and 3 year old to dinner. They went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. Excellent service and food. The pasta and meat dishes were stellar.

Thank B C
