They brew here on the premises. Came in for a tea time strong dark beer. At 11 percent in alcohol it has hit the Guinness book or records for strength. Excellent and I am not a regular with beer. Back in the evening for dinner. Bratwurst, sauté potatoes, and the sour kraut and a half liter of their 4.8 wheat... More

This was my second visit in 6 months and both times I took a native German with me. They were equally impressed with the menu. True German and regional specialties. And just a stone's throw from the Old Bridge. Their home brewed beer is excellent as well. Always busy with locals! You will likely find yourself sharing one of the... More

Brewhouse atmosphere. Various dishes were a bit hit and miss. Steak dish was definitely over done. Game stew was pretty tasty. Potatoes and liver dish was one of the better seasoned dishes. Schnitzel was pretty average. Those that had the beer enjoyed it. Service was a bit slow, but overall okay.

Right in the center of the famous "Old Town" in Heidelberg you find this brewery restaurant. They serve all sorts of German traditional food (Saussages, Schnitzel, Sauerkraut...) and for sure their home brewed beer. For larger groups they serve a variation of food in huge pans you can share. Good start for an evening.

Recommended by our tour guide, we ordered a flight of German beers along with traditional German food. Both were extremely tasty at a good price. Menu is in German and English with a great atmosphere. When we get back to Heidelberg, we're stopping here again!

Very good location close to the old bridge, in a very busy tourist area, but despite it is very busy it is really worth going there. Beer is great, white beer and Radler in particular, super tasty sauerkraut, fried potatoes and a pork knee. We loved the place and I'd recommend it to people who love German folks kitchen.

We were told to try the beer which is said to be "The strongest beer by original gravity of the world." As mentioned in the Guinness Book of Records. We were warned that you'd either like it or hate. We ended up disliking it. It was very thick, strong, quite malty and had a slight medicinal flavour. Yuck. Not to... More

Had the house Beer and the German Sausages with cabbage cooked up in a skillet. Atmosphere was classic German but a little loud. Food was good but not great. A good stop for lunch. They were full when I was there, and everyone was having a great time!!

Delicious schnitzel dinner! Probably my favourite meal in Germany. They also have a girly beer for non-beer drinkers – a beer mixed with sparkling wine and strawberries, pretty tasty! Service was a bit average though, but I suppose they were pretty busy. We wanted to order dessert but it took us so long to get anyone’s attention that we just... More

My husband and I asked a local where they would eat out and Vetter's Alt was in their top five must eats list. They didn't disappoint - great service, food and beer. Although if I am honest I had a shandy :-)

Thank empyer
