I have the best luck at picking out restaurants in Germany. I chose this one since it was right along the main drag close to the Christmas markets and it had immediate seating. My friends and I were hungry so the decision was made. I...started with the tagessuppe, which was cream of pumpkin soup. I love the way the Germans add a touch of balsamic. For the main course, I selected the lamb steaks, which included three perfectly cooked lamb steaks covered with baked cream cheese. It also came with fried potatoes and grilled vegetables. My one friend had the lamb chops and loved them while the other two went with the chicken covered in mushrooms and the Jäger schnitzel. Both loved their meal too. Of course, no meal is complete without a dunkel or two. Not sure why this is hovering down at 66 of 356 because the food was amazing, the service was great, and the holiday decor was wonderful as well as the usual decor of the place.More

A very traditional looking pub on the outside. It stands out as you walk along the high street. Inside is well latex out and has a charm about the place. The food here is well priced as are the drinks. Service was efficient.

Given it’s location on the touristy main shopping and dining street of Heidelberg, we went to this restaurant expecting average food. We shared the Nürnberger sausages as starters and ordered the Maultaschen and Jaeger Schnitzel as mains with side dish portions of salads. The Maultaschen...( what some refer to as German Ravioli) was one of the best I have tasted. The Jaeger Schnitzel was quite tasty. The service was attentive and friendly and the inside decor and ambiance nice and comfortable. Would be back!More

Considering that their main costumers are tourists the taste of the food is very good. Prices are as well on an acceptable level. The service is very good and professional. The choice of meals should give everybody the chance to find something according the personal...taste... The atmosphere is as well great, very comfortable, you could get the impression to be in a tavern 100 years ago, I like that.More

We ate here for lunch a week ago and it was phenomenal!! My husband had the Pfälzer Saumagen mit Sauerkraut und Senf, dazu Bratkartoffeln mit Zwiebeln Pork speciality from the region with cabbage, panfried potatoes and mustard and said it was one of the best...food he has ever had. The pork just melted in your mouth. I had the beef sausages and fries and it was just as good. There is also a beer garden in the back of the restaurant. The staff was friendly and helpful with recommendations. It really is a must if you are in Heidelberg.More

Delicious traditional German food but the beer garden out the back was a welcome respite from the busy streets of the Altstadt! Nice, relaxed atmosphere and great beer too!

It is a very nice looking and decorated restaurant where you can feel yourself in a medieval place. It is located on one of the main streets of Heidelberg. But unfortunately, the quality of local food is below my expectations. The sausages were very salty...and was not aromatic like the high quality ones. The taste and smell of multi-used oil on starters were not good as I haven’t ordered a main course. It is more like a restaurant serving to daily tourists rather than prioritizing loyalty of the customers.More

We ate here tonight on our last evening in Germany, and it was a really fantastic dinner. Great atmosphere, we ate in the biergarten and enjoyed a leisurely time. Great local dunkelsbier started us off We had potato soup which was well seasoned, fully flavoured...and had strips of Black Forest smoked ham in it which just added to the flavour. Portions were generous We then had mains. Pork shank for one - beautifully cooked with sauerkraut and mustard and potato dumpling. I had Wiener schnitzel with potatoes and cranberries . Both were generous portions So we had no room for dessert despite having spent the entire day walking. The table next to us demolished large desserts . We finished with two coffees and plum schnapps A great dinner, very friendly staff and a great experience Definitely one to return toMore

Me and my wife ate here a simple German dinner, two small mixed salads and local German main dishes: turkey steak and German ravioli. Lovely food. Not too expensive. Great and quick service. We liked this place a lot!

As a group we had preordered our meals and all arrived for our evening meal. A bit chaotic to say the least. Meals took ages and one poor lady didn’t get her meal until everybody else had finished. Food ok but not special. Very stuffy...and no air made everyone very hot. Poor service. Disappointing.More
