I came upon this restaurant by chance and I'm very glad I did! It's very popular, always quite full; the service is very nice and quick, and the portions are big and the meals delicious!

There is a special offer between 18.00-19.00 and 22.30-23.30. You can eat spaghetti bolognese for a very affordable price. And it tastes good.

Good value for money at the Brennessel. Lot of students there. Spaghetti offering is not to beat. I am now a frequent visitor in that place.

This is a very low-key place, no big expectations and a bit spartan, but the atmosphere is very young and cosy. Food is A LOT, tasty, and economic (especially concerning offers for early diners). There is a separated smokers area, if you like. I always enjoy going there, I know I won't be disappointed!

We definitely ordered too much food (appetizers and main courses), which was served not according to logical order (appetizers first, wait till it is over, than serve the main course) - plates (big plates) were just put all over the table. Most of the dishes were quite tasty, but not inspiring. Overall, can be a very cost-effective tasty meal, if... More

This place is bekannd or famous among Freiburg students, and best known for its cheap price and large portions of foods. The waiters are nice and Brennessel is very crowded so you have to prepare everything to get tables :D It also has delicious foods, unlike any other cheap foods. Lekker! Guten Appetit!

This place extremely well known amongst Freiburg students, but attracts a very diverse crowd. It's a little way from the old town (15 minute walk), but is definitely worth the experience. Meals are huge (could easily be shared) and very reasonably priced, and include all the typical dishes -various steaks, flammkuchen, spaetzle, etc. Don't expect many tourists here, although they... ...come to the Brennessel! The service is fast and friendly. The menue is huge as are the portions. I had an omlett filled with leek and a tasty creamy sauce and a side salad - all together just 2,60 Euro! Just one of many veggie options. And it was very good!! The Brennessel is a busy place. It´s fun to... More

Brennessel is more of a student restaurant where, it seems, that the younger generation is mostly found. Their menu is quite substantial and their prices are very reasonable. The beer is amazing. I tend to order the schnitzel dishes which they offer and I have yet to come across a meal which I disliked. The only drawback is their smoking... More
