Located at the entrance to Place Saint-Jean, near the market area in Valence, this is a good place to sample both modern and traditional cuisine. The chef, Mathieu Morgant, presides over hearty well-presented dishes in an elegant stone-walled restaurant under a very large-sized clock. The...products are seasonal and fresh and the menu, which changes every month, according to season, offers a range of starters and then 4 or 5 main courses to choose from. The place is frequented by locals (a good sign) and very good value for less than 25euro for rib of lamb with rum baba for dessert. The service was excellent and overall well recommended!More

Discover the french food thans to a single menu allowing discovery of specialities statrting with Duck pies followed by the "Tete de veau" cooked with fresh légumes ... if you do stop in Valence take the time to go and taste..not sure that they do...speak English but it is the "discovery" Un petit restaurant mais une grande finesse dans la realisation des plats... sur la base de produit frais et cusiinés ) la demande ,le chef nous a realisé un menu etincelant de gout. faite le detour si vous etes dans la regionMore

This may be a decent gastro bistro when you are a few feet from the Chef and can ensure you get a good meal, but we recently had to have a take away meal from this place delivered to the Hotel Clos Syrah in Valence...(because it had closed its restaurant) and the dish was only fit to feed to a dog. Half a duck we ordered from the website menu. It was overcooked, dry and rubbery with no potatoes (despite the online menu description of the dish) and with a dark mess surrounding the duck breast mainly consisting of lentils. Trades description act comes to mind. Half a duck in most restaurants means it resembles half a duck, with visible leg and wing attached. I expected better due to the good reviews. How can they get it so wrong?More

Food was good. Although the main complaint was that the drains wafted an unpleasant odour over the area. This was a real shame. We were outside and hadn't noticed till after we had ordered. Service was good. Although I have only given 2 points it...would have more on a different day. My husband had a beef brochette which he says was the best he had ever tasted. So all in all a mixed bag.More

.service is quick and efficient and the starter was excellent sct jaques mussels prepared on small Sticks, large and full of meat. the winecard is vast and with some very good bargains. prices are extremely low both for the meals and the wine. we had...the menu with duck as the second course and this was not good, the duck was in dry strips and tasted as if it has been through a washing maschine. we should have picked something else.More

I've been there a few times and it was always amazing. The reblochonade , a very "cheese lovers" dish! But my favorite is the shrimp with rice.... Too good to be true :) I also appreciate the location of the restaurant... A very cozy place.......And the price is super fair !More

This is a simple cosy bistro near the covered market area. The set menus are very good value and include a house aperitif and 3 courses. There is a reasonable choice and the food is pretty good for the 20 or 24 euro price. Service...was very friendly and the place is full of locals rather than tourists. This isn't a place for a top notch meal but for good value French food it did us well. The house wine is also good value.More
