6/20/2020 Saturday dinner. Based on many highly rated online reviews and was recommended by a Japanese waitress at Au 14 Fevrier, so we gave it a chance to benchmark our expectations. Result? Nothing special except it has one of our favorite sake. Braised pork was...tender but just tasted alright. Gyoza was ok. Unfortunately Not crispy at all. Seems like they were all pan fried ahead of time. The kitchen re heat them once order was placed. Fried chicken was ok but oily. Spinach salad was too soupy. Eel sushi served with no wasabi (?), we had to chase down the waitress for it. Eel Sushi had way too much rice. Eel was not treated, not a touch of sauce on top. No seaweed wrap. Just plain eel sit on top of a Rice cube. Sushi selection was limited, perhaps 5 types ( although it’s way better than most sushi restaurants in Lyon which had only salmon and tuna) This restaurant is a duplex unit. Only one waitress who managed everything....dine in orderS, beverages, take out orders, clear tables etc. getting her attention was not easy. She was quite old and she had to run up and down the restaurant many times. She was not as courteous like normal Japanese restaurant staffs. Guess I could see why. Lastly, the meal was not cheap in my opinion - nearly 200 euro. Don’t think we will return. Not sure why it had so many positive reviews ( decor? Service? Sake selection? Food selection? Sushi selection?). May be we overlook something? Miko Sushi was disappointing. Chez Terra was about 4 out of 10. Our quest of decent Japanese restaurant in Lyon continue.More

Terra, despite the very French sounding name, is undoubtedly authentic Japanese. When we arrived, the staff (or maybe owners)were chatting to us and other customers in Japanese, so immediately we knew we made the right choice. The food was superb and the menu was small...but compact. Most of the dishes were very homely but not in the rustic sense - everything was elegantly put together. いつもいっぱい客様がいるので、予約しなければならないと思いますMore

Each time I come here I want to fall on my knees and thank the owner. One of the best lunches I‘ve had in the world. I wish I could live in Lyon and come here all the time. Never been for dinner, though.

Perhaps it's the best Japanese restaurant in Lyon. The thing is I don't know if there is any other real Japanese restaurant(s) in Lyon which is/are opened by Japanese people. This is an authentic one. This is my second visit to Chez Terra. The taste...is so good, also the service. Make sure that you have to make your reservation few days before going. Not one day before you go, but FEW DAYS before you go. They are always fully booked. One "negative" point is, it's quite pricey $$$.More

If you have only had standard miso before, you haven't had miso. Come here. Order miso. Your life will be changed forever. This food was so all around perfect, if I lived in Lyon, I would eat here all of the time. It was exceptional....The pork rice dish was also amazing.More

Charming Japanese restaurant, in tipical Izakaya style, really cozy and welcoming! Friendly staff, they are fast and professional ! Excellent food, be it the spinach salad, the teriyaki salad, the sushi or the braised pork, all, dishes were excellent. The drinks as well were very good,...good sake, good plum drink. Definitely a place to return!More

This is a nice Japanese restaurant that has an authentic feel to it. The menu is not overly large, but is very good with the fish being very fresh and tasty. We tried the sushimi, gyozas, an eggplant dish, pickled cabbage, cooked salmon, miso soup,...and dessert - and all were amazing! I think in terms of authenticity of taste, it's the best Japanese restaurant I've tried so far in Lyon. Will be going again!More

Nice little restaurant in Lyon to get Japanese food. You might think it's a bit pricey but the food is totally worth it.

Went there for dinner with my husband and we ordered a la carte. Food came in warm and delicious. The soup that we ordered was particularly good, giving a very clean aftertaste. We also ordered Salmon Neck with was again beautifully cooked. Price is a...bit high but worth it for special occasion.More

I've been to Japan twice, and when I eat at Chez Terra, I feel like I'm back there. If you are visiting Lyon, I think you should, in fact, be eating local French specialties. But if you are in Lyon for a long time, and...you want to go to an authentic "homestyle" Japanese restaurant, this is the place to go. The interior doesn't seem to be very Japanese, but that is of no importance. I go for the gyoza and the korroke that I just can't get anywhere else in Lyon.More
