An OK ambiance, rather long waiting times, but quite decent brasserie style food. Good for a family outing or casual business meal.

We ate the three course menu of the day. Very good food and service. However, the waiters' knowledge of English was variable.

I have been several times to this brasserie, belonging to the famous Chef Bocuse network. I like the crowded and noisy ambient, the open air kitchen, and the counter. Food is ok, certainly not top for Lyon's standard, but what is really annoying is the service, which may vary from time to time from excellent (extra welcome snack, good waiters... More

This is a classical French brasserie, par of the Paul Bocuse chain. I ate here some years ago, but realized I hadn't reviewed it. I would like to review it now, because I would like to give it 5 stars. The interior is unusual - there is a toy train that runs around the top of the restaurant near the... More

I used to dine at Brasserie L'Est some years ago and was happy to see that it is as good as I remembered when I returned to Lyon recently. The service was fast, efficient and friendly, however one has to take into consideration that the service culture in France and Europe can be different to the US or UK and... More

This is a charming restaurant, busy until late at night, fun and with a unique touch. Food is traditional French with some Eastern inspiration. Memorable double fois gras and Maigret de canard, among the other dishes.

We love this restaurant. It is superb. If we go to France then we go to Lyon just to eat here. It is utterly beautiful food and service. We do not speak French except to say thank you and the usual greetings. It has never been a problem. We have never had to wait because of this. We have always... More

We waited 15 min before being seated. It seemed that the host at the door would allowed other guests who spoke French to jump the queue even though they had no reservations. During this time, the open Kitchen exposed that at least one of the chefs (or chef assistants) have hygiene issue - he licks his finger while preparing food... More

This is one of the 4 Paul Bocuse "satellite" restaurants in Lyon, France, that are more affordable than his primary restaurant -- named for East, West, North, and South. L'Est is fantastic! We also ate at LeSud, which was also great, but not as great as here. L'Est is in a gorgeous old railroad station with a train theme throughout... More

This visit was better than the previous one two years ago: service faster and had a really good starter (poached egg and asparagus). It was a holiday weekend, so the place was not that busy. Steak frites was cooked well but nothing incredible. Perhaps a little pricier than other options but still worth going to for simple, brasserie style food.
