As a foreigner, I loved this restaurant even though it's very expensive. However, I have to report my boyfriend's opinion because he's Brazilian so he knows best: it's great as a bar cos the selection of Caipirinhas (with real cachaça) and tapas was delicious. However, as a restaurant it's good but nothing special. The pricing is special though, but I mean...it's justified by the things that need to be imported and by the fact that most dishes are meat based.

My friends and I had a wonderful experience at Sambahia. Being Brazilian, I was eager to introduce my friends to the flavors of Brazilian cuisine, and Sambahia did not disappoint. The food was absolutely delicious, the ambiance was inviting, and the staff were friendly and attentive. I really recommend it!

At first glance, a great vibe and a beautifully finished interior. However, service was slow. We had to prompt the waitress several times to bring our drinks and she became very surly, eventually throwing our plates on the table without a word and flouncing off. Food was mediocre and the meat was barely cooked. Very expensive for what it was. Disappointed.

Food was average minus - the set meat menu did not meet expectations with meats too well done and the other dishes (cod, tapas) was average. Had to wait for 20-30 mins for drinks to be served, and still we had to ask for drinks twice that they had forgotten. A carneval dancer came in during the meal and made it a great experience for the kids, but foodwise I would have chosen another restaurant.

Very poor service, poor seating, long wait time, bland food

The service was terrible, and there were a few other logistics that were poor. A waiter started taking our drinks order, then said he would be right back, and never returned. We ordered after another 15 minutes, and got our drinks 20 minutes later. The entree came in about half an hour. The main took over an hour, and only came when we asked for it. We were offered a free drink to make up for the wait, but we didnt accept it as we needed to leave. It looked like others were having decent food, but ours was bland. Overall the staff are run off their feet. They need double the staff and then it may be ok. Also, the table we were at actually couldnt fit one of the chairs where it was, and it had a big box attached to the wall protruding from it, and there was a small hole in the wall that was open to the outside that we discovered after which made our legs cold. Also, it is very expensive. Overall, dont go.

Type of Brazilian restaurant but without being really Brazilian. Food is good but unfortunately the service is not as good as a Brazilian one. What a deception. I use to go to real Brazilian restaurant but that one is just a poor copy. Anyway the food is good but again not a nice service.

Amazing!

I went on a quite night and the chef made some incredible food! We have been to several restaurants in lyon and this is so far the best. The entrees were ok but the mains and desert were exceptional. Try the fish in coconut milk and dolce de leche fondant.

Only because I can't give zero Food bland, ordered off the set menu came at all different times so when the final bit came rest was cold. Ordered wine with our main meal never came in spite of asking for it three times. Waiter eventually came over to say they didn't have said wine, didn't occur to him to tell as that to start with. His excuse was he was new ?????? Went to pay bill and had to listen to the barman telling me it wasn't his fault. Well it certainly wasn't mine I was only the paying customer. Nice looking place but don't be fooled service rubbish food bland !!!!!

Worst service ever would NOT recommend

My husband and I went for dinner, the setting looking nice and we ordered 2 set menus. We ordered a cocktail each which was fine and prior to our main course ordered a bottle of red wine and some table water. We were both half way through our main course eating very slowly and hopefully waiting for a drink to go with this when no drinks at all. My husband had to get up and go down to kitchen area to ask for drinks. Finally some water arrived in an unclean jar (they charged us 5 euros for this!) and once we had finished our main meal still NO wine. We had to ask the waiter again for him to say "sorry we have no cote du rhone"! Why not simply tell us that and we could have just ordered a bottle of house red..we are not fussy nor expecting fine wine...what we were expecting was some wine/drink with our meal. We then had to wait nearly another hour (still no wine) for the dessert which we had paid for as part of the set menu. By this time we were completely fed up and decided to leave and just pay the bill just to get out. Again this involved much waiting at the bar until my husband they had 2 minutes to provide the bill or we are leaving. Strangely they produced the bill pronto which we paid in full even though they not provide the dessert. Shocking service and bland food - I would say one of the worst experiences in our life eating out. I must point out the restaurant was not busy perhaps 3/5 tables so no excuse for not serving a bottle of wine. We have travelled the world and eaten in beach huts in the east to fast chain food outlets but never in my life have I experienced such slow and terrible service. I would recommend to anyone to avoid this place - there are many nicer places nearby where they will provide the service you are paying them for.

In a nice well decorated room, a welcome and very friendly service. All very good dishes made with quality ingredients, including excellent meat cooked and served on sword. Good choice of wine, including a remarkable red from South Africa. As a bonus, humor and a few touches for a perfect evening!
