We were in this restaurant on a warm day in july and this upon recommendation of the hotel. The main plus is that you can sit outside on the street. We took the artichoke with foie gras and the gratin of aubergine... well what can we say... the food was utterly bland and definitely not an example of 'cuisine de... More

Le Poelon d’Or is a wonderful bouchon. Great food, vibrant and fun staff, and relaxed environment. We arrived later in the day and we were hungry. They slid us in at 2:15pm without so much as a sigh of disgruntlement (which we experience often, as we’d be a bit late or early for the proper eating times in France). These... More

I was back at Le Poêlon d'Or in June 2016. The restaurant specializes in local food, and is one of the few left in Lyon were Quenelles are made completely on site. If you want to try Quenelles (you should), be aware that cooking (boiling followed by baking) takes at least 30 minutes: perfect for an apéritif or for a... More

We stumbled on this excellent authentic Lyon restaurant. The service excellent, the food is great, the ambiance and hospitality is amazing. The owner spent time in top restaurants in Manhattan and Greenwich CT.

We chose to eat at this restaurant based on the excellent TripAdvisor reviews, however we left slightly disappointed. It has to be said that the food was delicious - we enjoyed the Saint-Marcellin salad for a starter and our two main courses were the Andouillette and the beef, both served with lovely gratin potatoes. However, the service was disappointing. We... More

We went there for lunch on a weekday and the place was packed- always a good sign. The place has been recommended and it didn't disappoint. Food and service were both perfect: not as rich as other places and yet delicious. We had the oeufs en meurette, the veals head and the ris de veau; they were very well executed... More

I have the pleasure of visiting Lyon for business regularly and each time I try and make a visit to this restaurant. The food was simple and beautifully prepared. To start we had the salad lyonnaise, which is the best I have had anywhere. What a perfect dish: bacon, eggs and toast disguised with some lettuce as a salad! For... More

Real food, full of taste, and Lyon's "love" and personality. Warm and generous servers and entrées. To start, I had a succulent salad of tomatoes and organic cheese with a pesto sauce. I followed with the eggplant "gratin" hot out of the oven - crusty on top and savory underneath. I'm quite choosy about eggplant and it's not a forgiving... More
