La Caleche made our experience on Chamonix a memorable one. We had hoped to find authentic Alpine dishes for us and something simpler for the kids. They had something to cater for each of our family members taste with superior quality. The staff were also amazing a very helpful. The ambiance inside the restaurant was unique. We enjoyed it very... More

Who said ski resorts are worth visiting only in the winter? Not at all. The French Alps impress with their beautiful landscapes, and local cuisine with flavors and aromas. Here products with higher nutritional value dominate because alpine climate is quite cold. Thus there are plenty of cheeses and tones of meat. One of the local specials is raclette a... More

Located centrally (reserve during peak season, mandatory), and full of paraphernalia from the history of chamonix and mountain climbing/ski, but also folklore and a full size chariot (la caleche), the kind monsieurs and madames used to ride 2 centuries ago. A must do in Chamonix, I'd say. The food is very good and reasonably priced. The staff is multilingual and... More

Had a solo but interesting dinner here at the start of a hiking trip. Tables are crowded together, food is traditional for the area -- a lot of cheese and meats. How these people stay lean, well they must do a lot of hiking. :)

Honestly, I don't remember what I ate here, all I remember was that the service was so bad, I had to go hunt down a waiter twice. We were seated outside on the terrace and there were heaters, as it was a cool, rainy night, but they did not do the trick. One of the tables complained and the waiter... More

La Caleche is very popular in Chamonix. Decoration is warm, with a lot of antiques and food is delicious. Our waitress (Aurelie) was very helpful and patient with our group. We enjoyed a lovely dinner.

This is owned by the same people as Le Cap Horn- with slightly cheaper prices. However the wines are still expensive. The grilled cod was very good and the terrace was well shaded. Good service and pleasant atmosphere

Warm wooden decor with traditional furnishings and traditional savoy food. Prices are a bit high but in line with other restaurants in the area. The prix fixe menu offers the best value. I had escargot then traditional sausage with creamed onions and crozet pasta, then a chestnut mouse dessert. Four of us shared a bottle of wine. Two others at... More

Excellent rib eye steak - friendly service , but price level is very high. Wine prices are unbelivable. You will find other places that gives more value for your money.
