I know that is to be expected in a Savoyard Restaurant but it is near impossible to taste fish or ice cream when there are melted cheese on 80% of the tables. I am sure the cheese is excellent so if that is what you are looking for- try this place! We had duck (decent but far from the best... More

Conveniently located in the high Street, lovely alpine ambiance even though the restaurant is quite large.service and food were excellent even though it was a busy Sunday evening... Eating out in France is never cheap, expect to pay £40-60 per head with drinks, well recommended

The food was OK, but certainly not great, and not even good. We went there in early September when the weather was nice, and it was good to sit outside. I ordered chicken with mushrooms, the chicken was dry and there was hardly any mushrooms. At the time we were there, they were clearly understaffed and the service was terrible.... More

My husband and I came for an anniversary dinner without expecting anything special. He ordered the three-course menu (salade savoyarde, risotto, mont blanc) while I asked for onion soup and tartiflette. Everything was exceptional - a perfectly fresh selection of greens, topped with generous portions of delicious boiled salami and local cheese; a perfectly-cooked risotto with a savoyarde touch. The... More

The atmosphere is classic french-swiss alpine. The food we managed to order was very good. But the staff were so busy they had no time to ensure our order was understood. Our waitress didn't even wait for one person to finish ordering before she was asking the next person for their order. Not sure I would go back

Lovely fondue on our last night in Chamonix. The service and menu were both excellent, as was the ambience. The starter of cold meats added to the experience, but I'm afraid we couldn't sample the desserts as we had had our fill! A great place to eat.

Great service, great food, inside and out. Ordered fondue on the street side, and it was the delicious!! The best yet on our Swiss trip. Service was fantastic. So much so, that we came back on the second night, and sat in the charming, cozy, very eclectic inside. Ordered raclette and it was very delicious as well. Ask for pickles.... More

A busy restaurant in the centre of Chamonix serving traditional faire. We enjoyed a cheese fondu which was great if not a touch pricey. Worth a visit

Due to its location in the middle of town La Caleche always seems packed with tourists. We stopped for lunch this time and it was actually quite tasteful. Tartiflette, Savoyard salad, can't go more local and the quality was nice. You pay a premium for location, the staff isn't too accommodating but we'd had dinner here on previous visits to... More
