We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch at Le Rhul. This was a dining experience. The staff was friendly and the preparation was excellent. Desert was a special treat. And, the view of the bay on a beautiful sunny day made the restaurant even more special.

My husband and I were so excited to try the bouillabaisse at Le Rhul for dinner. Staff was at first overly attentive, and made us feel rushed during our appetizer of sardines. I explained (in French) that we eat slowly and enjoy our food, but...one of the waiters split up our remaining appetizer left on the serving plate and threw them on the plates in front of us, then said, "non." Before I could finish the appetizer, the waiters brought out the bouillabaisse. He "deboned" the fish (but there were still a ton of bones left) and poured the broth in our bowls. I hate to say this, but the broth tasted kind of burnt and gritty - the flavor was off-putting to say the least. I thought that the fish that you add to the bowl of broth would make it taste somewhat better, but alas, it did not. There was no flavor to the fish at all - add in all the bones and it made for a difficult meal to enjoy. The aioli that was offered, also seemed to be lacking in flavor. My husband had the salted cod (fish encrusted in salt), and it was full of bones as well (after the waiter deboned it). My husband said it was "ok" but really not worth the price. I guess I'm confused as to why the restaurant is considered one of "the best" in Marseille. We ate at other restaurants that provided beautifully flavored food, at a much lower price. I paid about 200 Euros for dinner, and walked away feeling a bit sad that our meals weren't better. After we finished eating, it took 40 minutes for our check to arrive at the table. I was dying of thirst, and no one filled our water glasses (and we were out of wine). It was a very strange experience. The one saving grace is the view. Wow. Spectacular. We were guests in the hotel at Le Rhul, and I have to say THAT was a great experience. Upon leaving the restaurant, the female manager stopped us and asked if we were staying at the hotel. I told her we were indeed staying and she wanted to know what room. This was odd because we paid for our meals at the table, so there really was no reason for her to ask us this question. She asked a couple of times until I finally told her it was a room with a view. I didn't want to give out my room number because the situation felt uncomfortable and a bit intrusive. Again - this added to the confusion of our dining experience. We most likely will only have drinks on the terrace the next time we return, but skip the high priced meal.More
We went there as in several guides this is supposed to be one of the best bouillabaisse in Marseille. I must admit we were a tad underwhelmed by the quality of the food and had better elsewhere. The wine list is limited and lacks information....Service is however excellent and very professional. The location is nice, with great views on the sea, but a high traffic road just besides.More
Excellent restaurant! From the starter to the main course and the dessert, it was the perfection! Very nice staff! The “bouillaibaisse” is a must try!
We have felt taken care of since entering to the restaurant. Waiters were attentive, explained the art of cooking and eating bouillabaisse. The lunch was perfect. We received aromatic, comprehensive soup with accompanying croutons and tasty aioli and variety of fish, presented in detail by...a waiter. Everything was tasty, balanced and diverse, like Marseille is. This will be our long lasting memory of a great feast!More
We came here for lunch, the view on the sea is amazing and the restaurant is nice. We tried the bouillabaisse and a plate of fish a la carte. Everything was good, dessert and coffee as well. It’s not economic, but acceptable for what you...eat. The service can be improved.More
This might be an attractive site during the day but at night you cannot see the seascape. Our food was not very good. My wife’s lobster was rubbery and my bouillabaisse was a great production of rather tasteless fish. Wine was a bit expensive for...the quality. Wouldn’t go back for dinner but lunch might be worth a try on a clear, sunny day. On the other hand, the service was good and friendly.More
After reading the reviews came to the restaurant, ordered bouillabaisse. I really wanted to try this dish, especially in reviews they write one of the 5 best restaurants where they cook it. The dish is not worth the money; the fish are bony and tasteless....The wine made his stomach hurt. The waiters either do not know English and French, or pretended not to understand. Complete disappointment and stomach ache.More
The service was absolutely horrific!!!!! Save yourselves the trip and disappointment. When the manager was told that the waiter didn't even bother to come to the table once to check on the food, she said nothing. We had to ask twice for a napkin, had...to ask twice for water, and were not brought bread until the entree was served. The server and manager couldn't care less that we were unhappy.More
This looks like it should be and probably once was a great place - fantastic location etc etc - but very disappointing food. Bouillabaisse is E58 per person - for that price I expect something outstanding - what you get is tired and unloved -...didn’t even feel like fresh fish - very very disappointing - they need a chef fastMore
We were recommended this restaurant by friends and were not disappointed at all. The food was exactly as described, the scallops were seriously good. It is a similar price point comparative to similar Marseille top range seafood restaurants. It is worth the visit.
Our midday meal was one of the best on our trip to France. My wife and I both had the bouillabaisse. Our waiters, Igor and Luke, both were attentive and made us welcome in spite of our poor french. Watching the preparation of plating for...others was a treat. couldn’t beat the view of the sail races!More
As far as I'm concerned, stay away. Nice view but that is it. It's more like a puppet show, waiters pretending to be important, very formal without a smile or feeling. Far too small tables. We had the bouillabaisse, the most eaten in this restaurant...that evening. One for me and my female colleague not to forget. The soup did not smell good, had an intense bad taste and was extremely salty. The different fish, carelessly served and still bite in all pieces, hardly had any taste of their own because of the intense soup. The potatoes were also unpalatable. Furthermore, no extras except some croutons and a bowl of mayonnaise. No vegetables or anything of a design. The small table gave hardly any space to the plates, this restaurant clearly wants a lot of people per m2, in addition the price per person Euro 58.00 for this misrepresentation. Again, there are plenty of other restaurants to have fun and to eat better, just stay away.More
This was our second time to Le Ruhl; we returned here with a visiting dear friend who to experience authentic Marseille bouillabaisse. Le Ruhl does such an excellent job of making you feel special, from the champagne cart to the five fishes filleted for your...stew to the rolling dessert cart at the conclusion of the meal. Our waiter was witty and delightfully playful with us as he tied our cute bibs around our necks before explaining the process of eating bouillabasse in true Marseillais fashion. Our friend was not only thrilled by the wonderful taste of the fish stew, but with the entire dining experience. We paired our bouillabaisse with a bottle of local Provincial rose wine. Oh, sooooo delicious!More
Our experience at this restaurant was first class. It was expensive but this is one of Marseille’s best restaurants and bouillabaisse specialists. We were not disappointed. This was one of thehighlights of our trip. Great Mediterranean views as well. Don’t drive there...get an Uber.
