For my first visit to Marseille, I wanted to eat for the first time a real and good bouillabaisse! After some research, it became clear that one of the best was at Rhul! As for the welcome, nothing to say, the waiters were very warm...(reminding the friendly side of the southern people), helpful and caring during the whole meal! A small salted sweetness awaits us before each meal, which was not to my displeasure. You know the rest, bib, nice deep plate, and spoon, I was going for a bouillabaisse! (Note that they also make one with lobster... to see for the next time maybe). In short, it was quite good, not transcendent but good. We were shown the fish, we were given advice on how to eat it properly, we were served the inevitable pieces of bread accompanied by this famous rouille, in more than sufficient quantity. We are even allowed to take some broth almost at will! We eat well and quite enough. The only drawback is in my opinion the price, a little too high in my opinion. Especially the dessert, I was tempted by a mille feuilles, but 13€ is a bit too much. However, this high price is also partly justified by the quality of the products, the service but above all by the idyllic setting, facing the sea that this restaurant offers! In conclusion, great experience, no regrets!More

I ordered the whole sea bass baked in salt. They took it away to open (the salt crust) and only brought me back half the fish, looking pretty shredded. Maybe because I am American they did not think I would see half the fish was...missing? The sauce for the fish came 10 minutes later, we were the only table without breadsticks and we had to ask twice for water which did not come until after we finished our appetizer…octopus. Disappointing. Come if you want to feel invisible.More

A true disappointment. On my bucketlist I had a wish to go to Marseille for an original Bouilabaise and my wife made it happen for my birthday. When we arrived we were placed and other people that came in some time later were served first...even though we were not even offered a drink first. Offcourse I ordered the Bouilabaise and my wife choose the lobster. When it all came, the Bouilabaise was served with some 100-150 grams of fish and the lobster was undercooked, very small, served with overcooked scalops. Any garnish was apparently too much to ask for (and missing on the menu), so we could not order it seperately. The taste off the Bouilabaise was ok-ish but together with the very limited amount of fish certainly not worth the price. One staffmember (a young man) did a good job, but the rest should consider work outside hospitality. All in all a very disappointing evening in a restaurant that I do not recommentMore

Restaurant location is nice with a beautiful view on the sea and that’s it! Cuisine quality is not impressive. The famous bouillabaisse is the scam of the century. The restaurant master and the lady who manage the restaurant act as they are managing a star...Michelin restaurant which is absolutely not the case. The waiters and waitresses are nice and do a great job.More

Incredible view of the Golfe de Marseille and the Anse de la Fausse Monaie (a quaint cove with swimming off the rocks). Note that all of the properties facing Corniche du Président John Fitzgerald Kennedy will have a bit of road noise, as it’s a...busy street, but still extremely lovely. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Easily accessible to the Metro and Vieux-Port via the bus which comes every 10 minutes.More

Dear all, my friend and I went today to this restaurant. Surely we were too early which means in numbers we have arrived to the restaurant at 18:30. The kind waitresses said us that we need to wait until they open. So we have been...waited. Then we were asked by the one kind waiter to enter. So my friend and I went to the entrance to ask after 1 hour if we can enter. So at the end the women, no clue if she was the owner, said that they are fully booked and wanted us to leave. I was kindly saying it’s okay and we will leave now but the waitresses said us to wait until 19:30 so we waited 1 hour to enter. The restaurant was totally empty. Also upstairs it was super dusty so I think they don’t have many guests to serve. I am more than sure also she could at least understand what I tried to say her. She asked me if I can speak French. But in the way I could recognize she just doesn’t want to serve us. I am not able to speak French. But she has 2 people - one speaks English the other one Turkish. I could speak also with them in these languages. So all in all it was disappointing without even entering. I recommend you to book in advance also to use your dictionary.More

We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch at Le Rhul. This was a dining experience. The staff was friendly and the preparation was excellent. Desert was a special treat. And, the view of the bay on a beautiful sunny day made the restaurant even more special.

My husband and I were so excited to try the bouillabaisse at Le Rhul for dinner. Staff was at first overly attentive, and made us feel rushed during our appetizer of sardines. I explained (in French) that we eat slowly and enjoy our food, but...one of the waiters split up our remaining appetizer left on the serving plate and threw them on the plates in front of us, then said, "non." Before I could finish the appetizer, the waiters brought out the bouillabaisse. He "deboned" the fish (but there were still a ton of bones left) and poured the broth in our bowls. I hate to say this, but the broth tasted kind of burnt and gritty - the flavor was off-putting to say the least. I thought that the fish that you add to the bowl of broth would make it taste somewhat better, but alas, it did not. There was no flavor to the fish at all - add in all the bones and it made for a difficult meal to enjoy. The aioli that was offered, also seemed to be lacking in flavor. My husband had the salted cod (fish encrusted in salt), and it was full of bones as well (after the waiter deboned it). My husband said it was "ok" but really not worth the price. I guess I'm confused as to why the restaurant is considered one of "the best" in Marseille. We ate at other restaurants that provided beautifully flavored food, at a much lower price. I paid about 200 Euros for dinner, and walked away feeling a bit sad that our meals weren't better. After we finished eating, it took 40 minutes for our check to arrive at the table. I was dying of thirst, and no one filled our water glasses (and we were out of wine). It was a very strange experience. The one saving grace is the view. Wow. Spectacular. We were guests in the hotel at Le Rhul, and I have to say THAT was a great experience. Upon leaving the restaurant, the female manager stopped us and asked if we were staying at the hotel. I told her we were indeed staying and she wanted to know what room. This was odd because we paid for our meals at the table, so there really was no reason for her to ask us this question. She asked a couple of times until I finally told her it was a room with a view. I didn't want to give out my room number because the situation felt uncomfortable and a bit intrusive. Again - this added to the confusion of our dining experience. We most likely will only have drinks on the terrace the next time we return, but skip the high priced meal.More

We went there as in several guides this is supposed to be one of the best bouillabaisse in Marseille. I must admit we were a tad underwhelmed by the quality of the food and had better elsewhere. The wine list is limited and lacks information....Service is however excellent and very professional. The location is nice, with great views on the sea, but a high traffic road just besides.More

We have felt taken care of since entering to the restaurant. Waiters were attentive, explained the art of cooking and eating bouillabaisse. The lunch was perfect. We received aromatic, comprehensive soup with accompanying croutons and tasty aioli and variety of fish, presented in detail by...a waiter. Everything was tasty, balanced and diverse, like Marseille is. This will be our long lasting memory of a great feast!More

We came here for lunch, the view on the sea is amazing and the restaurant is nice. We tried the bouillabaisse and a plate of fish a la carte. Everything was good, dessert and coffee as well. It’s not economic, but acceptable for what you...eat. The service can be improved.More

This might be an attractive site during the day but at night you cannot see the seascape. Our food was not very good. My wife’s lobster was rubbery and my bouillabaisse was a great production of rather tasteless fish. Wine was a bit expensive for...the quality. Wouldn’t go back for dinner but lunch might be worth a try on a clear, sunny day. On the other hand, the service was good and friendly.More

After reading the reviews came to the restaurant, ordered bouillabaisse. I really wanted to try this dish, especially in reviews they write one of the 5 best restaurants where they cook it. The dish is not worth the money; the fish are bony and tasteless....The wine made his stomach hurt. The waiters either do not know English and French, or pretended not to understand. Complete disappointment and stomach ache.More

The service was absolutely horrific!!!!! Save yourselves the trip and disappointment. When the manager was told that the waiter didn't even bother to come to the table once to check on the food, she said nothing. We had to ask twice for a napkin, had...to ask twice for water, and were not brought bread until the entree was served. The server and manager couldn't care less that we were unhappy.More
