We haven’t eaten at Le Tilleuls for quite a while but our friends living locally chose it for lunch, and we were instantly reminded what a great location, with a wonderful ambience the place is. We ate outside, gratefully under the shade of one of the large trees & enjoyed the set lunch - at €39 for 2 courses, including the Saint Paul intramuros premium, of course. But worth every Euro.

Good but be careful when the waiter offers you a dessert it comes with a large tray with different pastries. The problem is that the prices are not presented. We find out the price of the desserts at the time of check-out. 14 euros for an ordinary pastry is very disappointing. If not the setting is very nice.

A very nice restaurant in the center of the small town. The service staff were friendly, but no more. You expect a little more for a Michelin star. Dishes like meat, fish and risotto were very tasty, but you should avoid being very hungry. The portion for 24€, for 12 small ravioli, is a real bad joke. When we asked the staff about it, we were only offered a portion of chips. The pasta tasted OK, but no more. We then ordered another dish, which of course was later charged. The waitress didn't even know the difference between an Italian cappuccino and a normal cappuccino. Poor! Risotto and meat, on the other hand, were very tasty and also in normal portions. For the price (36€ for the risotto and 39€ for the entrecôte) we would have expected something different.

Arranged in a small room at the top of 2 flights of a staircase with tiny spiral steps, we enjoyed poor service, to have the salt, asked for several times, we had to wait for the dish, already tasteless, to cool completely. The inconsistent and also tasteless fried calamari, the soft croque madame, the fried courgette flowers were spongy and also tasteless. The wine by the glass watered down, The price disproportionate .

Disappointed with our dinner in this restaurant on the occasion of my birthday. Reservation for 2. The welcome was already a little dilettante when we arrived. Then, the first impression (not crazy) is confirmed on my plate: tasteless sea bass ceviche with an unpleasant taste for the avocado emulsion (?), I finish my plate as best I can. The rest is worse, I choose a carpaccio of scallops with truffle (among the suggestions): no taste, the slices of scallops are dried out, plastic, the truffle shavings give off neither flavor nor perfume. Everything is bland. This time I leave half the dish. On the other hand, I finished with a tarte tatin, very good. And my husband enjoyed the foie gras as a starter, then a decent rack of lamb. The service is pleasant and fast. We stay on our end for a dinner at 90€ per person (without wine) for quality and service far from being at the expected level for this price. I would like to point out that I politely expressed my disappointment to the waiter because he questioned us when it was being cleared. He will not try to find out more. Living in a neighboring village to that of Saint Paul, we were recommended this restaurant, we won't do the same, that's for sure.

With many restaurants closed on December 25th, we didn't have too many choices for lunch that day. Fortunately the Linden was one of the few to be opened and did not regret it. Warmly welcomed by the team who installed us with the assurance of being soon in the sun, which was quickly done, we were able to enjoy the delicious tapenade offered for aperitif. When our taste buds woke up, they were able to enjoy the magret, tartare and homemade chocolate mousse we had ordered. Impeccable and pleasant service finish recommending this good address in Saint Paul de Vence.

Very, very disappointed. Menu with not much choice but the real problem is price quality. Unnecessarily expensive for very low quality. In particular we took a fillet of sea bass costing about 35 euros (a fillet, perhaps farmed) badly cooked and served with unlikely ravioli. Very Better tartate that does not require special skills in the kitchen. Very crowded place with medium quality service, they did their best but with so many people you could not serve well. The strong disappointment is related to the menu (many pasta proposals), the quality and the price.

The setting is very nice: on a square under the lime tree. The menu is well stocked, the dishes well presented and it's pretty well done overall. Given the prices of certain dishes I expected a little more savory tastes but we can say that it remains “bistronomic” The main downside in my opinion is the uneven welcome as well as the service which is correct but very impersonal. This may be explained by the fact that this restaurant has a very large capacity, so the staff runs from table to table (a little crowded in fact). It’s a bit like a factory and it’s a bit of a shame because we lose the intimacy of the meal, the charm of the setting and this place. To do with family or friends rather than alone. Couple for these reasons

We chose Le Tilleul, as many people do, based on the TA reviews ignoring the comments about rude service. The menu looked appealing and nice location. We had a glass of wine at L'Art et Le Vin next door (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!) before dinner. The terrace was full but our table was ready and we were promptly sat; not the friendliest of hostesses. Our server came over and took our water ordered and when that arrived I ordered a bottle of wine. Once we had that we placed our order: starters were Burrata with fresh tomatoes and Sea Bream ceviche, entrees of Seared Venison and Risotto Carnaroli. Everything was beautifully plated (see photos) but there was just something lacking in terms of the flavor compared to the visual appeal. For example, the ceviche had very little flavor despite all the fresh ingredients and a (mango) salsa on top, the Venison was served with a raspberry reduction but had very little raspberry flavor and the meat was somewhat tough. The burrata was very good and creamy but some of the tomatoes were just a little overripe. The shrimp were also good as was the risotto, but for a pretty as the plate looked the food itself just seemed bland. Our server did just the basics with very little interaction with any of the guests. I would chalk it up to the fact that we were from the U.S. (although I speak fluent French) but we got to talking to the couple next to us who were from Paris and they received the same tepid level of service. For me there are two levels of poor service: rude and perfunctory. Ours was the latter. The important question is "would you go back?". No. There are much better restaurants in St. Paul de Vence with equally, if not better views, better food and service and more affordable. Check out my other restaurant reviews for SPdV.

We had such a great meal at Le Tilleul. I can only eat gluten free food and was so impressed that this was dealt with so easily, even being brought two warm bread rolls to start the meal. My husband and I both had a Niçoise salad to begin, one of the best I’ve had! My main meal was sea bass with delicious thyme flavoured potatoes substituted instead of the pasta. My husband chose lamb which was beautifully cooked. Professional yet easy, friendly service and good wine choices all contributed to a lovely evening.

Overpriced menu du jour. Starter distinctly average with minute amount of feta and a handful of oily marinated peppers. Mains were duck confit with what I can only describe as vegetable “spaghetti” overly flavoured with sesame. We swerved dessert as wanted to get out of there. Tables very close together so you’re actually dining with your neighbours. Save your money and eat elsewhere.

Despite the interesting and value for money meal we had , it was difficult to overcome how touristy the area was. Way too many tourists which doesn’t give value to the restaurant or the surroundings. Still if in this village it’s a great place to eat

The setting is always magnificent, and the lime tree always shaded.. but.. we are seated in full sun and ask for another table, no. Do you have a parasol? We are told “there will be 30 minutes” thank you goodbye... Stoic we take turns to be a little more in the shade. Order an aperitif and let's see our glasses of pink wine arrive which warm well.. The waiters are running in all directions, finally the answer is "I forgot". I canceled the aperitif We have our dishes, meh, the poultry has no flavor and the squid is very ordinary. The desserts save the whole thing. But what's more is the big mistake in the note, I won't go into detail but I had to have it taken back by the person in charge inside. Little consideration for the customer.

Abominable: 1 hour wait between the starter and the main course (including a burrata tomato: Complicated) which is more than 24 euros.... The waitress comes by regularly to apologize, I end up asking her if she plans to buy a drink to keep waiting. After authorization "Grand Boss, we are brought a fairly average glass of wine of course. The boss eventually comes and explains that he has just changed the map and that his teams are not perfected. By the way, credit card, no rebate, the boss feels he's apologized and that's good enough. To escape. Are here to take your money. Not even a free digestive after that shabby service.

We expect a lot when a restaurant is this expensive, and it partially delivered. The bread came without butter, an omission we only realized later when we saw butter on other tables. The seabass ceviche was disappointing, basically raw fish with creamy avocado. The goat cheese salad was excellent, though. The lamb was more medium than medium-rare, though tender and tasty, with ratatouille and potatoes as sides. The seabass with artichoke hearts was excellent. Service was great. The 50cl rose from Provence was excellent. It’s a great location, especially if you’re seated outside.
