This is a charming large bistro with extensive patio seating close to the walls of the town. The home made fois gras was outstanding. The magret de canard was perfectly cooked and very tasty. There was a substantial cheese plate but the cheeses weren’t quite...ripe. Good and fairly priced wine list. Service is friendly and efficientMore

Soggy salad Nicoise and Raviolis Nicois more like hard pasta with very salty beef gravy. A poor experience not to be repeated anytime soon

Exquisite food and impeccable service in a beautiful medieval setting. The duck was terrific. If you are lucky enough to secure a reservation not to be missed in Saint Paul-de-Vence.

Location at the remparts of St. Paul de Vence is very fine. We were enjoying the nice view, the nice food and the evening - just until 3 smokers sat at our neighbour table and the wind breeze took their smoke into our eyes. Good...restaurants (even in France) must understand: some of their customers do not want to pay for getting this "extra" flavour on top of the good food. I will come back when you stop this pollution of the air at good restaurants. There was a mistanke on our bill - it was corrected and the staff excused - so OK.More

Outstanding location. Outstanding Menu. Wonderfully prepared food. Staff were so polite. This amazing village is such a joy to visit that to also have amazing food so delightedly presented is a real bonus.

Great restaurant! Everything was so fresh and delicious. Very attentive service. Their tiramisu was the best I’ve ever had! Wonderful location, also. Go and enjoy!

We were recently in St-Paul-de-Vence for four nights and had made reservations for Le Tilleul for our second night's dinner. Walking past the restaurant several times on the days leading up to our reservation, I was exceptionally excited to be having dinner here. Unfortunately, I...think my expectations got the better of me as our experience was, at best, average. The outside seating area is lovely and as the sun was setting, it was an ideal spot. But what one fails to realize on walk-bys is how close the tables are placed to each other. Thankfully, we had a lovely couple from Paris next to us who were delightful, but I think they were looking for a little more privacy as were we. The food was presented lovely, but lacked much flavor or style. I had the special ceviche, which appeared beautiful, but was ill-prepared and actually made me ill later in the evening (the ceviche wasn't cured long enough, thus basically serving sushi, which requires a special cut of fish. If properly cured, the fish will be opaque throughout...which this wasn't). We have a house in Costa Rica, where ceviche is prepared frequently and expertly, so I'm familiar with under-cured preparations, which this was. I wanted to tell the waitress, but she couldn't be found or bothered with my views (see below). And while my shrimp entree was properly cooked, it lacked much flavor and was basically grilled shrimp. Compounding our less-than-perfect food experience, our waitress was perfunctory at best. I've owned hospitality establishments and I can immediately tell if staff is just going through the motions or if they're being professional and attentive. Clearly our waitress was simply going through the motions. Outside of delivering food and taking orders, there was never any interaction (hence my inability to question the preparation of the ceviche). We spend three weeks in the south of France and, outside of this experience, never did we ever have a less-than-wonderful meal. I don't leave less-than-glowing reviews often, but this place deserves it. It was terribly disappointing and I was expecting so much more.More

We chose Le Tilleul, as many people do, based on the TA reviews ignoring the comments about rude service. The menu looked appealing and nice location. We had a glass of wine at L'Art et Le Vin next door (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!) before dinner. The terrace...was full but our table was ready and we were promptly sat; not the friendliest of hostesses. Our server came over and took our water ordered and when that arrived I ordered a bottle of wine. Once we had that we placed our order: starters were Burrata with fresh tomatoes and Sea Bream ceviche, entrees of Seared Venison and Risotto Carnaroli. Everything was beautifully plated (see photos) but there was just something lacking in terms of the flavor compared to the visual appeal. For example, the ceviche had very little flavor despite all the fresh ingredients and a (mango) salsa on top, the Venison was served with a raspberry reduction but had very little raspberry flavor and the meat was somewhat tough. The burrata was very good and creamy but some of the tomatoes were just a little overripe. The shrimp were also good as was the risotto, but for a pretty as the plate looked the food itself just seemed bland. Our server did just the basics with very little interaction with any of the guests. I would chalk it up to the fact that we were from the U.S. (although I speak fluent French) but we got to talking to the couple next to us who were from Paris and they received the same tepid level of service. For me there are two levels of poor service: rude and perfunctory. Ours was the latter. The important question is "would you go back?". No. There are much better restaurants in St. Paul de Vence with equally, if not better views, better food and service and more affordable. Check out my other restaurant reviews for SPdV.More

We went here for the good food and nice setup several times. We were patient and left large tips despite the chaos in the service for dinner. One day we wanted to sit for lunch. For a personal condition I had a bathroom emergency so...while my husband was outside looking for the hostess, I sprinted inside to the toilet. The hostess ran after me and literally lost her marbles over me going to the toilet before being seated. She started yelling and two others joined in their very loud outrage. So embarassing to be YELLED at for having a toiled situation (due to a condition) while also bring a customer and leaving hundreds of euro to this place…I was shocked since this entire thing could have been handled with basic decent dialogue. We went to the place near by who had no problem with simply discussing like civilized humans. The hostess probably needs a vacation to calm her nerves…More

Staff went out of their way to provide us a lunch even though they were in "close" mode after lunch hours and getting ready for dinner guests. Chef made us the best chicken club sandwich we've ever eaten. Best ginger ale we've ever tasted. Karma...ginger ale was its name and I wish we could find it in the US - $15 a liter on Amazon. An absolutely lovely spot (outdoor cafe) in St Paul under a beautiful tree.More

My husband and I have eaten in Le Tilleul several times already, as we live in Cannes. This time I took my 5 female friends there and it was a wonderful experience. The weather enabled us to sit outside but we got a nice table...inside the restaurant which was also very pleasant. We were served fast and with a big smile which made a great first impression. The food turned out to be excellent again - fresh and tasty – we took 2 starters to share ( Goat cheese salat and Poke bowl) , and then each of us took a main and we shared 3 desserts. We liked the most Carnaroli risotto, Linguini with clams and sea bream filet. However, the best come later – the desserts. The waitress come with a big plate full of desserts and they all looked so beautiful that it was hard to decide what to take. Finally, we shared tiramisu, apple tart and strawberry tart – they were all delicious. The service was very nice and helpful and made our lunch experience even better. The Manager was looking after us, suggesting wines and chatting so after a beautiful walk around Saint Paul de Vence we decided to come back there for another bottle of wine. I highly recommend Le Tilleul. I was there at least 5 times within last 6 months at it was always good and the service was always very pleasant. For me it is the place to go and dine well when in Saint Paul de Vence.More

Despite the great location and interesting sounding menu, we were left disappointed and very much poorer than we arrived. My sea bream ceviche was tasty but my husband’s rack of lamb, ordered pink, was virtually raw and of very poor quality with an abundance of...fat. When the waitress asked if we had enjoyed our meal, we explained about the lamb. She really was not in the slight bit interested although she did utter a quiet “sorry “. No further mention was made and the bill was slapped on the table. What a shame - such potentialMore
