Great little place to eat. Short menu with with delicious option for starter, mains, desserts or salads. Wine list equally minimalist but with 3 of 4 options in each category. Wine by the glass or bottle.
Some Asian influences with things like spring rolls and...chickpea fries on the starters.
Service was polite, friendly with perfect English when my poor french ran out. Service was fast too - but not rushed in any way. Felt we could have spent all night there and they wouldn’t have minded. Looked that way for all the other tables here tonight too.
Location was just right, with a lovely hustle and bustle without being intrusive.
We LOVED it.
Chickpea flour ‘chips’ & olive tapenade start - never seem that before and definitely stealing that one. Grilled peppers, capers, garlic olive oil - yum. Great bread too. Mains? Veggie gnocchi for one of us and a tremendous beef stew and gnocchi for me. Meat was perfect as was the red wine stew. Had the coterie de nimes to accompany it, €74 with no room for dessert - next time maybe!More
Had a nice intimate dinner in Old Town in this small little hotspot nestled in one of the charming alleyways in Old Town. Had pasta a lot in Nice- but it was so fresh and homemade, thick and the sauce was fabulous! It was a...generous portion & I ate every mouthwatering bite! This place is easy on the eye and always busy, friendly wait staff and you can't go wrong with their food. A must stop! Very reasonable priced even with drinks.... My husband had a curried chicken dish over noodles - also said it was yummy!More
Found Papayou walking around the small and narrow streets of Old Town Nice.
It had a great location on a street corner with outdoor seating.
I arrived a little bit before the rest of my family and asked if I could have a table for...4 and told them that the rest would arrive shortly. After what felt like 30 seconds a waiter came and asked if they were coming soon because they would not let me occupy the table.. (my family arrived after 1 minutt) While I was waiting a singel traveller/guest came and asked to have a table - there was several free tables next to ours - he was turned away... I did not like that!
Once my family was there all the staff was happy and gave good service.
We all had different meals - all tasting very good, especially the seafood risotto and the raw tuna in coconut milk. The desserts, the Pavlova, was also great tasting.
So; Papayou is recommended for great tasting food
To the owner and staff of Papayou; except solo guests to have a table for two and do not rush guests in or out - it do not work in the long run..More
We visited the restaurant late afternoon. Ordered fish and chips, curry and salmon toast.
All food was good also dessert (pannacotta) was of very good quality. Service was happy and professional.
We will be back for sure. Thank you Papayou
I understand if it gets busy, and they want business, but this places was not as busy as the other restaurants around it! Let’s just say that the waiter we had was super rude! We had to make adjustments to our party of four, two...of us had to leave before the waiter took any food or drink orders. The waiter gave us the worst attitude, it was complicating and wasn’t going to work for him, and couldn’t move the one little table over! We all left very upset. I’d give it a ZERO if I could. Too bad for bad service!More
After having only French food for over a week we were craving for something different. Found this on TripAdvisor. The flavors were AMAZING! The staff and service were also very nice. We love how they combined Thai and European food. The result was just perfect.
