This is the perfect place to unwind after a long day wandering the streets of Avignon. The cheese selection and wine list is superb. I would highly recommend it. The staff is friendly and is happy to provide an English menu.

"Cozy" and "charming" are appropriate descriptors for this restaurant. The menu features mostly dishes involving some variety of cheese or other. The tartiflette was very rich but tasty; the chicken was also very good. The staff is friendly and knowledgable; the wines are affordable and offer an impressive variety for the size of restaurant. Off the beaten path and worth... More

Went here for a business dinner. It was the third visit and again wasn't disappointed. Great meal and service with a very relaxed atmosphere. Had the Camembert fondue with cold meats, potatoes and bread with a beautiful bottle of local Ventoux wine. Perfect.

Not a lot is open for dinner on Monday evenings in Avignon, so we were very fortunate to have stumbled upon La Vache à Carreaux. The staff were very nice, and dinner and dessert were delicious. We both had the duck entree with a glass of wine each, followed by the mi cuit au chocolat (lava cake) and espresso. The... More

La Vache à Carreaux is not easy to spot, unless you know about it. Which we did, thanks to the owner of the B&B we were staying at and who suggested that we eat there. You walk past the synagogue, past Place Jerusalem and, after a maze of alleys, you get to Rue Peyrollerie. Once inside the restaurant, you can't... More

This restaurant was recommended to us by a friend, and we enjoyed our meal so much we went again the following night. Very friendly and chatty staff. We had two different salads on different nights, plus I had a half Camembert cooked in garlic and white wine. My wife particularly liked her red berry crumble, which was nicely judged to... More

More

Food so good, everyone enjoyed their meal. Cheeses excellent, all the main courses delicious. Cute place, lots of wines and cheeses, but also a full menu- fish, duck, etc. Very local place, and they do not make speaking English easy, but worth going.

Busy little restaurant tucked around the corner from the Place Saint-Pierre! Food was very good, good wine list with reasonable prices. My husband and I had a wonderful time dining here and would return in a heart beat! If you don't have time for dinner, be sure to drop in for a bottle of wine and a charcuterie platter. Cozy... not many options for local food in the very center on Sunday night within an acceptable price. we both had a main course, a glass of wine and shared a dessert: duck was nice, the pork ok (nothing memorable), cake I forgot. service was very good, location is great and atmosphere is nice in the main room
