We visited Christian Etienne on 12th Nov to celebrate my fiancé's 40th birthday with a friend. This was part of a weekend trip to Avignon. We received a warm welcome into the restaurant and were promptly asked if we would like to be spoken to in English, which was very much welcomed, accepted and helped us to relax (we speak... More

Christian Etienne, Avignon. A one star Michelin, this was quite good but more in an intellectual than a gourmand experience. Good amuse bouches, especially the panna cotta bouillabaisse with cucumber coulis (say what???), excellent foie gras and butternut squash, very good scallops with a potato pancake and onion confit but the fish was just ok on a barley like risotto... Thank you for your visit and compliments on the kitchen of the restaurant. What a pity that the wines of the Rhône Valley are not to your taste. Best regards Guilhem and Corinne SEVIN More

We tend to think that the walhalla of preparing beautiful food is based in France. the culture of Chef's, whom are at least as important as the president itself and are addressed as if they were gods. I had the privilege of dining at Christian Etienne with my best friend and found that the ritual of great chef's being born... More

Note that your table has a choice of only 2 menus that you must ALL agree on. If this is not a problem, then get ready for a very well thought out, well prepared and well presented dining experience. A muti course themed tasting menu that will last 2-3 hours. This is fine dining to relax and enjoy. Flavors abound... More

Lovely service and a tasty tomato menu in the heart of Avignon, a nice treat for tomato aficionados. I had a challenging meal being interrupted with business calls throughout but the staff handled it with grace and ease - not always common in this region but always greatly appreciated.

This is likely one of the finer restaurants in Avignon. It is fancy and high-priced. We were there with our kids but I would not call this a family restaurant, though surprisingly there were a fair number of adolescents and teens there on the evening we visited. They essentially serve a tasting menu and serve innovative and cutting edge food.... More

Situated a few metres from the Palais du Pape this restaurant is top drawer, albeit quite pricey. We had one of the set menus (plus several amuse bouches) and lingered for a couple of hours over a great lunch. The service was very friendly as well as being efficient. Our previous visit which was for an equally lovely dinner had... More

My wife and I had dinner here on 26th August and it was a complete delight. We booked on the day, were lucky enough to get a terrace table, and were warmly welcomed. We always dine with our dog, a flame red poodle called Otis and he was warmly welcomed too. We both chose 'The Tomato' menu and I have... More

We had dinner here recently. We opted for the degustation menu. The location is great: just next to Palais des Papes, the service is average, and the food is average to below average. We have dined in many places in Avignon (and all over the world), and there is no question, that there are many better options in Avignon, particularly... More

Avignon is a small town and all the chef are connecting, I'm really happy that you find some good restaurant in the city. We are very disapointed to not have responde to yours expectations. There is nothing in your comment who can explain or help me to build something positiv in our restaurant. But every morning, the team want to... More
