This is a tiny, quirky restaurant with amazing food. It is very well presented, has excellent service and the daily menu is prepared fresh to order. It's not cheap but not too expensive either and totally worth it. If you're after good modern French food then this is the place to go.

My friend has recommended this place as a dinner venue and we were not disappointed once we found it in site of deceiving mobile navigation. The place is rather small with 5-6 tables, funky design, one man show but very skillful. The food is creative but without extremes, I.e. you still can see and understand what you eat, really nicely... More

We stumbled upon Le Chapelier Toque while wandering around Avignon and decided to go there for dinner that night. The restaurant is tiny with seating for less than twenty people. We were amazed to see that it was a one man show. He is the Chef, Waiter and general dogsbody. The menu is quite small with only about five dishes... More

Just by passing this restaurant and watching a plate with a steak coming by I got interested. We got a table inside but sadly they were just out of steaks. So I went for the pork instead. And it was a delightful arranged meal that arrived 10 minutes later: a fine piece of pork chop served on a layer of... More

We were told that this restaurant serves very good fish and thus decided to give it a try. We were pleasantly surprised that the starters, meat, desserts, etc were all pretty good. The menu was not long - two choices for starters, three or four options for the mains and four types of dessert. But the quality of the food... More

Talented chef serving creative dishes which give fine dining restaurants a run for their money. What's more impressive is that he is a one man team, cooking and serving guests at the same time!

Whenever we are in Avignon with smaller groups we love to eat at Le Chapelier Toque (Chez Joe). The artfully designed walls and mismatched furniture provide a unique setting to indulge in a delicious meal (and at a reasonable price). With many years of Michelin starred restaurant training, Joe takes great care in preparing good food. Highly recommended!

Located away from the town center, we would have missed this intimate little restaurant if not for the B & B owner's recommendation. Luckily, we were in Avignon before the busy tourist season begins, so we had a leisurely dinner with lots of attention from the chef/owner. From the entree, to the guinea fowl, to the baba au rum, everything... More
