this restaurant is quite near the Place de l'Horloge and the Papal Palace. there are menus at 28 and 42 euros with just a few choices. the meal began with a little amuse-bouche of goat cheese olive tapenade and tomato. I recommend the Laudun white wine brotte available in 50 cl bottles. The main course of crusted cod and 9... More

Out of season but recommended by TA we took a chance on getting in here. No problem, we and another two diners (which made the restaurant a little subdued) the food however was great, simple, tasty, good home style cooking. By the time we had got the dessert the restaurant was 80% full, which produced a better vibe. Not hesitation... More

We loved this restaurant so much that we went twice. It is an unassuming little place behind the opera theatre. The decor is plain and perhaps could be a little warmer but the food is delicious. We loved everything that we had. It is very much Provençal with delicious small but tasty courses. The service was excellent by the partner... More

Myself, my g/f, my dad and his cousin were on France shopping for wines for our wholesale business. We have visited many vineyards in the area and also in southern France. One way home we have stopped in Avignon for overnight and were looking for a place to eat. We found this little restaurant with family like atmosphere. The food... More

The restaurant, recommended by friends, was a delight. The food had a simplicity and depth in its flavours and style. Superb "fish stew" was rich and intense and the "apricot cake" was perfect for a hot evening. The cheese plate was interesting too with fresh soft cheeses for Summer. The wine list had a good selection of local Rhone wines... More

On our last night in Avignon, three friends and I had dinner at this delightful restaurant. It had been recommended by other friends but that's no guarantee. However, their judgment was spot-on. The menu, although limited, provides enough choice to please most palates, and the food more than lived up to expectations. Scallop carpaccio was light and delicious, leaving room... More

This place was a real find. Probably our best meal in Provence. Wonderful team in a very small restaurant -- she is working the front of the house, hostess and waitress, while he is cooking in the kitchen. Everything here was terrific. Wonderful soup, appetizers, entrees (the lamb shoulder, which others have mentioned in reviews, is the best lamb I... More

We had been staying in the area for a week and tried a number of local restaurants mostly all good. However this was by far the best of all those we tried. Good service, great food nice wine and with free little tasters to start with which were delicious. Not to be missed. We plan visiting again before the end... More

L'Isle Sonnante is located just north-west of the main square behind the opera house, so it is easy to miss, but well worth finding! It mainly offers set menus at two price ranges, with two or three options at each course, but the selection is balanced and caters for a good range of tastes. We were especially impressed by the...
