How does he do it? 32€ lunch for 3 courses plus a good glass if wine.Cubism de Foie Gras; Tournedos Rossini and a Framboisier. All immaculately presented and top quality ingredients. Undoubtedly one of the best meals of my holiday.

Maybe we chose the wrong things. Maybe we went on a bad night. The slow cooked egg was great - but beyond this it was pretty disastrous. It was probably the lowest point in this year's dining experiences.

The dining is downstairs in what feels like a cleverly lit old wine celler hence the name 'caves'. Subtle elegance and cool from the outside temperature. This is not a big restaurant and not wheelchair friendly but this is 17th Century Aix and few establishments here are. This does not detract from the food. Whilst not having an extensive menu,... We visited this restaurant the other night and found the food mediocre. To start with we asked for an English menu and the waiter just said 'we don't have one' and walked away with out offering to explain dishes to us (I must say that later on a nice waiter did come and offer to explain to us). Both our... More

Elegant but casual setting for lunch and, perhaps dressier in the evening. An inventive and talented chef that succeeds on his own terms, great products, beautiful and historical settings and impeccable service. The ratio price/quality is unique in the neighborhood.

We dined here on June 22 and thoroughly enjoyed the meal at the time: no dud courses, good pacing, and comfortable setting in the cave. However, my husband got a very bad case of norovirus food poisoning, the symptoms beginning the next morning, which required the attention of a doctor today, 5 days later, and has wrecked the final third... we were there over 30 years ago and remember being blown away - of course new ownership, but still the same lovely room in the cave with rock walls, which you either find cool or claustrophobic. We liked it. Food was striving for creativity and they do a pretty tasting menu. Service was fine. We were more excited by some... More

Forgot to write a review at the time but still remember how brilliant this restaurant was. Visited last year with my french boyfriend and had the tasting menu. Each course was so delicious and perfect potion sizes. Brilliant value for money and presentation was incredible. Such good value for money especially when you compare to tasting menus in the uk.

Refined cuisine in an unusual setting. The best is to ask a table underground in "la cave". Unique experience!!

My wife and I ate here for my 70th birthday lunch. We ate upstairs next to the kitchen door which meant that we had a good conversation with the Chef/Patron. The downstairs sounded a bit noisy. The food was excellent, two amuses bouches - one, a slow cooked poached egg with a strip of smoked salmon, was really innovative. I... More
