Tucked away in one of the many laneways in the old town of Aix, this restaurant was recommended by a staff member at our hotel. Warning bells perhaps! Not really. We weren't looking for a big night out and wanted Italian and this fitted the bill. Nice atmosphere ...we sat downstairs in a cave like area. The food was fair... More

Friendly service with "il coure d'italia" in the atmosphere. Genuine dishes served with a genuine feeling of hospitality. All is prepared with pride and passion for great eating. I'm coming back!

This is a great little restaurant and highly recommended. The food was extroidinary. Highly recommend the pizza and tiramisu. The staff was the very nice and helpful. The downstairs is very neat to see, but sit upstairs near Windows. ( it gets very hot downstairs ). One of the best restaurants I ate at for the week I stayed.

My wife and I visited Dal Gladiatore twice during our week's stay in Aix. We went initially based on Trip Advisor reviews and we were not disappointed. We asked to sit downstairs and it was a haven of calm away from the streets above. We both ordered pizza, and I have to say, the pizza dough is the best I've... More

My wife and I walked the street of Aix en Provence looking for a casual meal, reasonably priced and quiet. This restaurant fulfilled our desires with very good food, excellent service and very reasonable prices. It's run by Italians who know how to cook Italian! I had Lasagne Bolognese which was excellent. My wife had a large Parma pizza. We... More

We arrived in Aix fairly late and were looking for something easy yet amazing, and we found the perfect restaurant in Dal Gladiatore! It was the best meal we had in France. I had the pesto gnocchi and my mom had the chicken. Both of our meals were fantastic and the staff was super friendly and spoke good English. I... More

The restaurant was named after a famous movie about the era of the gladiators when slavery was commonplace and emperors were routinely betrayed and murdered. I was given a tour of the restaurant, which reflects that period of time, but parts of it, like the tables and chairs, looked more like they had just been purchased from a Milan contemporary... Sadly my first experience and my only one. We had to wait almost an hour for our food and there were repeated power cuts throughout the evening!!! The food was OK ...while drinking coffe my daughter and I got sprayed with cleaning fluids that waitress was using to clean down table next to us!!! ... very disappointed

I'm very sorry you did not spend a pleasant night in my restaurant. Honestly, you have not been lucky because in march we've just opened, we still needed a better organisation...I apologise once again. I hope to see you soon for a better experience...kind regards, Sandro GROSSI More

Nice place for a dinner, good quality and taste, but.. although the food is very good it is more like a french version of the italian food. Good if you like when the food is more fancy than in typical italian restaurant.

Dear Madame, thanks for your kind feedback. I don't know what you were expecting from our restaurant but here we are all italians, french way of cooking doesn't belong to our know how...I'm really astonished because it's really the first time we got this remark!! Everything is authentically italian and we can't do other way...Sandro GROSSI More

If you have a hankering for well-executed Italian fare while in Aix, go to Dal Gladiatore. The pasta was perfectly cooked, and the pizzas that were going by looked delicious: thin crust, mozzarella, fresh tomatoes, the perfect margherita pizza, a simple, refreshing sight. The decor was a little quirky (Russell Crowe in his Gladiator role covering the wall behind the... More

Description
Our establishment (wi-fi free) is an italian Gastronomic Restaurant & Pizzeria. In september 2012 Italian Chamber of Commerce awarded our restaurant as the only "real italian restaurant" in Aix en Provence. Everything is home made by expert real italian cookers. We have many choices for all kind of tastes. Pasta, pizza, homemade fried food, seafood, desserts: so much know how behind...We fluently speak italian, french & english. You will keep an excellent memory of our dinner!
