Located in an alley, the exterior is completely unappealing, they should fix that. Inside is a funky atmosphere with tables throughout, couches, cushions, often live music. Good food, interesting beverage menu with fun choices.

We ate here our last night in Provence. What a perfect finale. The food was delicious, fresh and inventive. Each plate was a masterpiece. The service was very efficient. They helped us translate the menu, were so patient while we tried to decide what to order and actually stopped us to chat on our way out. Find it on your... More

You can't go wrong with this vibrant, relaxed restaurant tucked into an alley in Aix. The food is delicious--familiar yet different than the Mediteranean food you may have had before. The ingredients are fresh, the combinations, flavors, unique and tasty. Vegetarian friends happy as well. Cool art and lamps give the place a funky, fun vibe. A special night out.... More

Friends who live in Aix en Provence recommended this restaurant, otherwise I am not sure I would have found it. It is located in a back alley, but definitely worth seeking out. We were a group of four and needed a reservation on a Tuesday night. It is a unique atmosphere, walking through heavy curtains at the entrance. Menus are... More

This restaurant was absolutely worth trying, because it's different from everything I tried before! I really enjoyed the dinner in this place decorated with taste. The food is organic, exotic, sophisticated but accessible, so is the staff. The food is delicious, with many flavours and surprises. I will definitely come back.

What a nice diner we had in this very original atmosphere: you are in a art gallery. You can imagine to have such a nice restaurant in this small dark street. But the menu is awesome. Delicious homemade dishes, very original and tasteful. Service very good. Prices are correct.

I really enjoyed the lunch that we had at this unusual restaurant which is also an art gallery. I had an unusual dish which was delicious and I was congratulated by the host. Others had more conventional dishes which were equally good.

Do not miss going to the restaurant. I had the duck margret and my husband had the pluma de pata negra pork. Both dishes were the best we've had so far in France and we started our trip with a Michelin star restaurant. If you want great, fresh well prepared food in place that feels like it's where the locals... More

This place ticks all the excellent boxes ! Hidden in a small side street in Aix. Drole d'Endroit, literally "an unusual place". Nicely decorated, very warm greeting and friendly service. The cooking is creative and tasty, there is a vegetarian option. Being vegan they even adapted the vegetarian dish to my needs. A place well worth eating at when in... More

Description
This restaurant has just opened and is located in a small alley called "rue Annonerie Vieille" on the right of the rue Bedarrides in the historic centre of Aix-en-Provence. The concept combines a restaurant for lunch, a board of tapas in the evening as well as regular acoustic concerts, literary debates and readings, art exhibitions and a small deco boutique. The Drole d'Endroit also has free wifi and welcomes people throughout the day for a coffee, a cup of tea (the tea list is quite extensive!), a piece of cake or a scone. The cuisine is Mediterranean and focuses on using mostly organic and locally-sourced ingredients. Once a week, the restaurant will also sell some organic vegetable hampers produced by a local farmer.
