Our first visit to the fabulous but understated Tonton Louis .The seafood is world class .The restaurant is dockside in the Commercial Fish Port .The general locale is unwelcoming but the restaurant is a beacon of warmth .A convivial and relaxed ambiance .The dishes are well presented and with balanced flavours. The oysters and langoustine Entrees are world class !... More

Really surprising find, when your approaching you think your on the wrong road as its in the industrial estate near the quayside miles from anywhere retail, however once inside its a well oiled professional restaurant.not posh but nice . We opted for the buffet at 34 euro which meant unlimited crab langoustine prawns soup. Etc. All were delicious. Nothing to dislike here... More

Excellent, very nice indeed. My wife and her sister thought it was the best duck they had ever tasted. My only complaint was they could not tell me the name of the red house wine which was very very nice.

This is a no-frills, high quality seafood restaurant. The food is as fresh as you can get it and the service attentive. This location is not the easiest to reach and you will need a car, but the trip from La Rochelle is worth it. Would recommend it if you're holidaying in the area.

Helpful friendly welcome, very child friendly, and great on the terrace. Buffet was better than we imagined and the oysters (extra €8 for 6) were both good value and good eating. Staff recomended a good local wine which was cheaper than the one I was going to order. After at least four trips each to the buffet we only just... More

First off if your idea of seafood dining is Fish and Chips. Stay Away. If you expect English to be spoken in the quintessentially French establishment - don't waste the journey. If you are more concerned about being fawned over than what is in your plate, then.thithis may not be for you. That said I had no trouble at all.... More

We took bus line 20, which got us right to it, 18 minutes from Place de Verdun, no problem. The bus goes every half an hour, except for some time in the morning and afternoon. Lunch times are noon to two, evening times late, 7:15PM. Service very nice, good local wines, great sea food, both shell fish and fish, fresh... More

Had dinner here and it did not meet our expectations. Service was uninterested at best especially as we are not French. We asked for a window table and were told no, only for 3 or 4. The next couple (French couple ) to arrive were given that table. Seafood buffet looked good but was somewhat limited. Food was better. Mussels... More

we were recommended this restaurant by our hotel manager. although the setting isn't great (not being in old la Rochelle but at the fishing port) the food is, and this is where the locals eat so not touristiy. the pull here is the seafood buffet, all you can eat for 33ish euros. the buffet food was lovely and fresh, consisting... Visited here for the second time in two years. The seafood buffet is very comprehensive, but quite pricey. Good friendly service...
