This restaurant has an excellent location and good ambiance. Service was professional and expert. Food was variable; the asparagus starter had very little asparagus, the beef main course was very drab without any colour (e.g. salad) and a bit overdone, and the peach dessert was also overdone. Wine was excellent. It would not take much to improve the above!

Friendly service in a dull and fading old restaurant with an overly-ambitious menu that is prepared without attention to detail. This place has clearly seen better days and has no interest in updating itself for the 21st century. There are better options in town that both cost less, and deliver more. Not recommended.

We shared a delicious and quiet moment in Fontevraud in this lovely restaurant. The menu for the day offered a choice of smoked salmon with quinoa or terrine of lamb confit, a grilled filet of bar or breast of pintade--we took one of each and can say all were deicious and beautifully prepared. In addition, we were offered fresh cheese... More

It's OK. But once upon a time (maybe 20 years ago) it was a great deal better and I get the impression that it's still trading on those times.

The first point is the service : excellent and smilling. We had the menu at 26€ and this is absolutely a very good value for money. The restaurant serves a traditionnal French cuisine, homemade and tasty. For the deserts, you have to try the soufflé which is the chef specialty.

We so enjoyed the great value of the 26€ dinner that we ate in this charming and we'll run restaurant twice so that we tested all the options. All were good but the memorable dish was the individual orange soufflé.

We ate here last evening being disappointed with anything else on offer. It was pure theatre. The Maitre D explained each dish. I wish I had the French to do him justice. We had the 26 Euro meal. The weakest course was the gougere which were tough due to over cooking/ re heating. The Amuse Bouche did just that. It... More

Rated as one of the better places to have dinner in the area I was very disappointed with the mediocre meal and the the inflated prices. Despite a wine list as thick as a dictionary I see no reason to charge more than 2 euros more for the same aperitif available in other area restaurants. Bread was served cold and... More

Second time we have had lunch here in the last month, this time with friends. As we had reserved a table we were expected and greeted warmly. Dining in the garden is lovely as it is set back from a pedestrian walkway and is beneath trees on a terrace. The food and service were very good indeed and interestingly a... More

Very disappointing. The menu showed foie gras, but what we received was pate de foie gras. The dinner roll was stale, and the pigeon royale, which we ordered medium, came well-undercooked. We would not return and do not recommen d.
