Good comfort food

Visiting a friend in Rouen and neither of us knowing where to choose, we happened on this restaurant on a wet Sunday. Not much was open. It was pretty full during our meal and I felt we were possibly the only tourists. They have a 3 course menu for €24.50 and we chose from the many options. The... read more

My folks were visiting Rouen at the weekend and we ended up here on Saturday because we hadn't booked anywhere and had a dog in tow. In summary, overpriced, poor quality and no atmosphere. No redeeming qualities- just don't go!!!

We ate here twice and both meals were very tasty. The staff were extremely friendly, and it has some history - Marcel Duchamp and Simone de Beauvoir ate here. There is a 3" step to get in.

We ate a light dinner prior to the illumination show on the cathedral. Salad, escargot, pate and some desserts All plates flavorful. The clientele was almost all French speakers, however we were welcomed and accommodated so nicely . I felt part of the crowd.

This place is very popular, the staff were very friendly and helpful to two people who speak very little French. They have menus in French and English. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. The location is very central and picturesque. I would eat here again, thanks for making us feel welcome.

Our first meal in France this holiday, so important that it be good French food. It was a busy restaurant, and rightly so. Nice meal and good service.

Historic location. We wanted to see the lazer show on the facade of the Catrhedral, so we practically randomly picked the place to eat before. It was a great choice. Small but good wine selection complemeted extensive menu with the local specialties. Ordered escargo (plump and juicy), local salami (very much to my liking), tate de vie (veal head), beef... More

Don't order sausage.........................otherwise great food! They know the english tongue! Right next to hotel. Remember in France they never feed you enough so you order desert and they make more money. No dinner until 7 pm.

Nothing exceptional, but everything good. There are better places for the price, but it has a nice location opposite the cathedral square which is good for people watching.

Before leaving for Normandy, I'd spoken with a French colleague who bemoaned a trend among his country's restaurants for serving microwaved food trucked in from institutional, offsite kitchens. I thought he was just spouting an urban legend until my brother, my wife and I ate at Brasserie Paul. Still, the food was better than the abrupt service which, for all... More
