Beautiful room. Fantastic food. Everything we ate. Magnificent M. Courbeur Whisky as Aperitif. Decided for 2 first courses- a Gaspacho and a squid based plate. Marvelous. Only problem was the service, or its attitude or both. Left me with an uneasy feeling that we decided to leave without the anticipated digestif and coffee. I shall not return, neither recommend .

Went here for lunch. The outside appearance was slightly unnerving as they're re-furbishing so it looked a bit scruffy but it'll be finished soon and I'm sure it'll be lovely when it's all done. We sat on the little terrace. The fixed price menu is pretty good value and the food was uniformly delicious. We started with a gazpacho of... More

Very good food ( the 'essential'), kindly waiters, price / quality OK, but some important things to improve : red wine has to be served at the right temperature ( we ordered 2 bottles and we made already the remark at the beginning. High outdoor temperatures can't be an excuse ) . A toilet has to be clean. An open... More

I definite agree with the previous TA reviews saying how wonderful the food is, the well done Asian-French fusion, and the very tasty sauces which were not over-bearing. We were all pleased with our dishes (cod, turbot and wagyu steak), and the chef was willing to make small changes. The wine list was varied and interesting, and the champagne by... More

My goodness this was good! From the amuse bouche of the most delectable beetroot gazpacho through the pumpkin velouté with fois gras to the main courses of beef or duck with mushrooms, this was serious, French cooking with a touch of Asian fusion. The desserts were good too though I am not sure mint and cucumber sorbet really complements raspberry... More

Great place, great meal, and helpful for vegetarians: they offered me a special dish of veggies, it was tasty and unique. Each vegetable was separately cooked with each a remarkable taste! (Great mushrooms, sauces, mixes...) Service was great, waiters were all really kind and helpful. My wife took the Menu Decouverte (60€, 6 courses, and well worth the price!), each... More

Its nice what the chef is trying to achieve. It was about the best meal we had during our stay. Limited in choice but the sauces are freshly made unlike Paris where they come straight out of a jar.

not our first time at l'essentiel but first time as a large group. great service, very efficient, timely. we went there with 7 children, no hassle at all, and food was customised for children and for the adults - so we were all happy.

We used to come with my wife last years and i came back with my mum and brother last week. Nothing changed, every dishes is mastered. We ordered starter, main meal and dessert. each one is an equilibrium of light spices never greasy. A special remark to the fish, a huge piece perfectly cooked ! a real masterpiece as well... More
