Excellent food in a serious restaurant

My goodness this was good! From the amuse bouche of the most delectable beetroot gazpacho through the pumpkin velouté with fois gras to the main courses of beef or duck with mushrooms, this was serious, French cooking with a touch of Asian fusion. The desserts were good too though I am not sure... read more

Great place, great meal, and helpful for vegetarians: they offered me a special dish of veggies, it was tasty and unique. Each vegetable was separately cooked with each a remarkable taste! (Great mushrooms, sauces, mixes...) Service was great, waiters were all really kind and helpful. My wife took the Menu Decouverte (60€, 6 courses, and well worth the price!), each... More

Its nice what the chef is trying to achieve. It was about the best meal we had during our stay. Limited in choice but the sauces are freshly made unlike Paris where they come straight out of a jar.

not our first time at l'essentiel but first time as a large group. great service, very efficient, timely. we went there with 7 children, no hassle at all, and food was customised for children and for the adults - so we were all happy.

We used to come with my wife last years and i came back with my mum and brother last week. Nothing changed, every dishes is mastered. We ordered starter, main meal and dessert. each one is an equilibrium of light spices never greasy. A special remark to the fish, a huge piece perfectly cooked ! a real masterpiece as well... More

We ate at the restaurant on our first night in Deauville after our hotel recommendation bad we were not disappointed- lobster bisque followed by lobster pan fried and a wonderful chocolate desert together with a great Chardonnay ensured an outstanding and affordable evening. The service was wonderful and attentive. We were so impressed we brought back our travel group on... More

My partner and I had a great meal here. We both went for the Decouverte Menu which consists of 6 beautifully presented courses. All the courses were excellent. The staff were very helpful particularly Anna who was brilliant and explained each course to us and spoke very good English, much better than my French I'm ashamed to say !!

With a very nice advise from the sommelier the meal start with original and delicious entree. An additional piece is provided by the chef with a sophisticated gaspacio. We moved forward with a fish well prepared. I recommend to close the meal by the modern fruit salad called the water lily. The bread is great but don't expect to see... More

As this was our last night in Deauville we decided to eat at L'Essentiel since it was well rated in Tripadvisor. We did not book a table and arrived at the restaurant at around 7.20pm and a table was found without any problem. We chose the Decouverte menu at 59euros, as it had a seafood slant and gave opportunity to... More

We had lunch here today and were amazed at the care and detail put into the dishes we enjoyed. We sat outside half in the shade and half in the sun which was very pleasant. We started with apéritifs and tapas which were good. Then lobster bisque which was beautifully served and absolutely delicious. For our main courses my Partner... More
