Right in the centre. Good value for money and clean and friendly. Very good breakfast. Can park opposite - cheaper than hotel parking!

Loved the decor, impeccable service, every dish perfectly executed and providing high level of creativity. Affordable wine list. Overall an excellent value and most enjoyable. The right spot for a small franco-american family celebration! Worth a detour

We used to live not far from Caen, and used this place as a favourite restaurant for family celebrations, and visited for lunch with friends. The finesse and quality of the food, the assured calm of the service and the general atmosphere make it a...great place to eat. When locals, we used to do lunch, which is a flexible prix-fixe of remarkable value... In the heart of la veille ville there are gentle post-prandial strolls in every direction. The only downside is slightly tricky parking, so arrive in time to find a place - rarely more than a few minutes walk, but hardly ever 'just outside' CKMore

We’d wanted to come here for some time but it is a special occasion restaurant and so we bided our time. 41st wedding anniversary seemed to fit the bill. So we booked for a Saturday evening. Went for the 7 course grazing menu and told...them my wife can’t eat anything with sugar. They listened and were superb. Lovely food. Not cheap but very special. Highly recommended. Really friendly and efficient waiting staff. Even if it’s only once in a lifetime, eat here!More

We booked a reservation at the restaurant by email before travelling to Caen. The response was prompt and warm. From the moment we entered the restaurant until the time we left we had a most enjoyable time. The front of house staff who spoke excellent...English were helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. The décor was a modern and the atmosphere calm. We opted for the seven course menu and were asked if we had any allergies or particular dislikes. With a little trepidation on my part we placed ourselves in the hands of the chef! Similarly we asked the Maître 'D to match wine to each course which he did admirably. To say that we enjoyed ourselves is an understatement and before leaving the restaurant we made another reservation. In many respects it grieves me to write this review as the restaurant is small and I fear that in future it may be too busy to accommodate us.More

We were a party of six and everyone without exception thought our meal was brilliant. The welcome and service was everything you would expect. The quality and taste of the food was first class with a very good wine list that was not too expensive...for good wine. All the food choices were appreciated with no-one disappointed. An exceptional evening.More

First class, from the moment we entered until we departed three hours later. Lovely ambiance, superb and attentive service, excellent food and wine. Tried their "L'Intuition" five course meal and was delighted, all courses. Highly recommend.

Going to A Contre Sens is something we so look forward to when staying in Caen and manage to go there 2 or 3 times a year. Comments I have made in previous reviews still very much apply, however on a very recent visit, we...could not help but make comparisons with eating at Michelin starred restaurants in the UK. One near us charges twice as much, insists on payment in advance with no refund for cancellations. Oh how we appreciate A Contre Sens where you get superb food, the warmest of welcomes and all for around £50 for a 5 course tasting menu which they very willingly adapt for your requirements. No advance payment here! Do try it if you have the chance; worth a detour as it is so good but you need to book well in advance. We will soon be booking for May and possibly also AprilMore
