This restaurant really stands out from the crowd. Very professional and friendly service, top Chef & crew, amazing surprising dishes with surprising tastes and presentations. One of our absolute favourites in Normandy, absolutely worth the trip! Ranks, as far as we are concerned, in the top 5 of Normandy.

We ate at each of the Michelin 1* Restaurants in Caen on consecutive nights in September. Ivan Vautier was the most expensive, but also the most polished, with classical service you expect at this level. The all lobster menu we had was bordering on 2* for quality and presentation, with unusual combinations including generous amounts of white and black truffle... More

We've stopped for a night on our way to Brittany and had the lobster menu. Each dish was delicately cooked, refined and delicious. The wine selection was also very good ranging in all prices to your liking. The bread was home-made and absolutely divine so as the pastry. We had a table in the garden elegantly decorated. Like a little... More

We ate here on the Saturday night of our two night stay at the hotel and the breakfasts on both mornings and could not find any faults. The dinner menu although expensive (it is Michelin starred) was excellent, and breakfast had a good selection.

This is by no means a cheap restaurant and the style of food served would not be to everyone's taste. It was to both myself and my wife and is of the finest quality presentation. Unfortunately my taste buds are so degraded after years of smoking that I couldn't fully appreciate the finely crafted flavours and textures on offer. We... More

Definitely the best, most creative and most accomplished chef. It's always a pleasure to enjoy a meal at Ivan Vautier's restaurant, be it for a special menu on a special occasion or just for a lighter - but delicious and very refined - lunch.

Always pleasure to dine here. Great "menu degustation". Modern and inventive. We love this place. The menus change quite often. Not in the best part of town, but clearly worth the drive (there is a parking). If you want to drink local try the excellent ciders (from Domaine Dupont). We tried many degustation menus (lobster, scallops, seasonal..) always a great... More

Apparently the table had about a dozen heads of State around it during the D Day celebrations. The food is great I had John Dory "Chefs De Etat 2014" one of the dishes served on that occasion. Followed this with French sweetbreads and the raw & cooked raspberries which were an 11 out of 10 so very good. 92% top... More

Staying at the hotel Ivan Vautier (very nice though incongruously located next door to a Midas muffler shop) we decided to have dinner at the restaurant. It would be our first experience at a Michelin star rated eatery. It could be our last. My wife and I are not naive travelers or diners. We understand and appreciate quality, in food... More

We stayed in Caen for two nights as a base point to do the Normandy beaches and Mont St Michel. We had booked the hotel to serve as the base point. The real surprise, and a pleasant one at that, was the restaurant. It is 5 star…it has a Michelin star, so the quality of the food was exceptional. We... More
