Most of the meat is local produce and it tastes amazing. The French fries are also very tasteful. It felt like you were dining in a very classy place but laid back at the same time. Whenever I will visit Caen again, I will definitely return.

An oasis for hungry couples who only have one night in Caen and don’t want to waste it. Perfectly laid out despite the restrictions of COVID, it was cosy and welcoming. I had the faux filet, she had the rôti de coeur d’aloyau, blissfully delicious, washed down with a velvety Pinot noir. Our table was served by the attentive and knowledgable Kiki who made it his job to see everything was perfect for two strangers to his city. Boeuf and Cow your reputation is secure. Thank you for an evening we’ll never forget.

My favorite aperitif/starter board to share in Caen: it's around 30e so for 10e per person you have salmon gravlax, excellent homemade foie gras, tartare, hot camembert and mouillettes..ect...even for 3 that's a lot every time we can't taste the desserts, too bad! 1 board and 1 dish is very filling even for a good eater And the meat for me, the beef: a very tender and tasty delight, good sauce on the side and top fries. A friend who doesn't really like beef tried the tartare, she loved it because they are good, well-cooked products. The setting: right in the city center with a view of the magnificent St Pierre Church The decor: clean and refined, we feel good And an attentive welcome and non-stuffy kindness on the phone or in the room: a young, dynamic and professional team Cocktail aperitifs: still quality it's a serious establishment so for my part I don't find anything negative The only downside: you have to reserve and sometimes even several days in advance otherwise arrive very early or come back for a second service later The really correct and justified price for this constant quality and this atmosphere

Booked into this welcoming place prior to catching ferry back home. It opened at 7pm and our reservation was for 7pm……by 7:30pm both floor and several outside tables were all taken, such is the reputation of the restaurant. The staff are welcoming and friendly they all speak good English which is a blessing for someone like me who struggles with any language other than English. The service was tremendous, no hanging about waiting to be served. Once food and drinks were ordered they were on our tables within 10 mins. Everything fresh cooked to perfection. Their menu has a lot of dishes to choose from, some combinations you would not think would work…but they do. Mine for instance was round of Camembert cooked and served with a sirloin steak…..fantastic. It was served with a small salad and the best fries I’ve tasted in a long time. The desserts are to die for…..the cheesecake and the brioche were our choices and both absolutely delicious. We had non alcoholic beer and espresso to drink. So 2 steak meals,2 desserts, 2 non alcoholic beers and 2 espressos came to €83, which as far as 8m concerned was total value for money. The place itself has a lovely happy atmosphere and will def be a return visit for us on our next trip to France.

Excellent meal delivered by excellent staff in good surroundings. Had the Angus beef ribeye, medium rare, and my wife had the the chimichurri steak, both of which were cooked to perfection. dessert was creme brulee and again cooked to perfection. Well worthy of the 5 stars. The table next to us had a meat platter to share and there was immediate food envy, but far too much meat for one person! :-)

Very good discovery in Caen. You have to like meat, but it's in the name of the restaurant ;-) The servers are very pleasant, which contributes to the general good atmosphere. Prices are linked to the quality of the meal (the cost of a meal these days is a "concept" these days...). We had a side of beef to share, very good time.

Met by friendly staff and given a menu that will suit most tastes. The food arrived in good time and was delicious and the chocolate pudding with the runny chocolate inside the reason we went there two nights' running. As the title of the restaurant suggests, it is particularly good for meat eaters, though other options are available. We paid £33 a head for a two course meal and a glass of wine

Our meal at Boeuf and Cow was a big disappointment. It certainly did not match the many positive reviews. Have they been? The initial welcome was poor. The service at our table upstairs quickly went downhill and really tailed off to nonexistent halfway through the meal. The food was average and in the main quite unremarkable and indifferent. Certainly, no better than most neighbourhood steak restaurants you might come across around the world. Several pages of the menu is given over to self penned statements of how good they are, but the reality from our visit is quite different. It is a damning indictment of the Caen food scene if this is seen as one of the best restaurants in the town. There is a marked disconnect between price and the quality of cooking/service offered. After starters and mains arrived, the waiting staff ignored us. We were left with a table covered in empty plates. We had to chase a dessert menu and table clear. We asked for the bill, but this did not arrive. We then chased and were then told by a waiter to walk up to the bar to request the bill and pay. More cafe, than restaurant in approach. This well sums up this place. All style over substance.

Beef Restaurant at heart of town Caen. After arrival into France & having 3hours drive towards Normandie, very late evening, found that open Restaurant, which offered very good Service and excellent food to enjoy. Place can be really recommended, thus we might have been looked "like strangers in the night!??" Place was popular for under mid-aged customers, and our language (Finnish) might sound a little bit strange? Thus this looked like a beef restaurant, also seafood was available & tasted delicious. Price level was very good compared with enjoyable food & desserts. We eat at upstairs restaurand, and bar section was at ground level. Forgot only to take some photos,, nearby we saw enormous old historical castle (where visited next day).

This is an exceptional restaurant in Caen . It was one of my favourite restaurants during our 5 week holiday in Europe. My apologies for the delay in writing this review. We actually ate here in late September of 2022. Our hotel booked us a table here and when we arrived, the host was very welcoming, joking with us and recommending several dishes on the menu. He also provided us with menus in English as our French was limited. The food was delicious as were the cocktails and the serves very generous. The service was also fast and all wait staff were friendly. Its a warm and inviting space with plenty of room. If you are only in Caen for a few nights , please make Boeuf & Cow a must to have dinner or lunch at.

Location is great, restaurant is beautiful. All the food besides the steak was great. Three people in my party, and three people in another party that was with us all ordered the ribeye steak. It was the toughest piece of meat anyone had ever tried to eat. Would never order that steak from this place again. Other diners had the sirloin and the chicken, and both were great. Staff was very pleasant and service was good.

We arrived without a reservation and our server welcomed us with open arms and a smile. We sat upstairs, the decoration was warm. We took the local menu for 32 euros (starter + main course + dessert), the wait was not long and WOW! The country terrine, as a starter, was generous and well presented. The soft-boiled egg was also very successful. Our two rump steaks were tender and tasty in the mouth. Special mention to the famous “beef & cow” sauce which made me salivate throughout the meal. The perfect blend of all flavors, without distorting the taste of the meat. The accompaniments are homemade and it shows. And the final surprise: our desserts (French toast and crème brulée) arrived flambéed. Which was original and only improved the taste. In addition to eating good products, you don't come out "bloated" but are well satisfied. The prices are more than fair for the quality of service. I highly recommend “Boeuf & Cow” and will find an excuse to return soon.

Last day in Caen we went to dinner here, and it was the best meal we had by far the entire trip. Great Steak house, with a bar that had a wide selection of drinks. Wait staff was prompt, and even brought out menus in English when they saw we didn't speak French. Food was excellent, and enjoyed by all. Would definitely come back next time we are in Caen!

Very warm welcome, the waitress was great! The cocktail (Moscow mule) and the dessert (tatin) were really very good. On the other hand, the tripe was really too fatty (yet I love it) and the prices were too high for the overall service. Damage…
