This restaurant was near our B&B and we ate here one night. We had a nice meal. The wait staff spoke English.

A very nice restaurant in the charming little town of Bayeux. Serves classic French cooking. Excellent and smiling service.

If you want quaint, this is your place just diagonally across the square from the cathedral. The food is Ok but the ambience leaves a lot to be desired, starting with the tinny portable radio blaring Michael Jackson-period noise: we should have walked out… We arrived towards the end of the lunch period when most patrons were finishing. We were... More

Was recommended to eat here by the folks at Le Hotel Bayeux, and had a great meal. Prix Fixé menu was good, with a fair selection of tasty meals (19.80 Euros), wine was 22 Euros for a pretty nice St. Emilion. Just opposite the Cathedral, very easy to find. Worth a visit!

This restaurant came highly recommended from our Air B & B owner. This was by far our least liked meal of our time in France. The sea snails came highly recommended from other posters and I did not care for them. Their texture and flavor were nothing like escargot, which I definitely prefer. The pork special was dry and lacking... More

It is hard to miss this restaurant - just across from the Bayeux Cathedral, at a corner of a junction. It is basic in decoration but does have an incredibly old table where they slice the bread. According to the waitress, it is more than 150 years old and its top is so worn out, its concave rather than flat.... More

Excellent lunch. Place was crowded so service a bit slow. Very hospitable to those of us with limited French.

We walked in to the Assiette Normande without a reservation and got the dreaded table by the door. It was actually not bad at all. The service was good, if a bit inconsistent, and the food was solid. Nothing spectacular but hearty and a bargain.

We started with a Kir Norman, which was quite good. I had oysters on the half shell, which were excellent. The Onion Soup, however was disappointing, as it seemed like beef consumme with some onions thrown in. The rest of our mains were so-so. The desserts were much better than the mains. We had Apple tart, a chocolate tart, and sorbet... More

I really wanted to like L'Assiette Normande. The restaurant has wonderful charm and the staff were so welcoming. The place is full and very popular. We visited the restaurant on a Lonely Planet recommendation and we were for disappointed. I ordered the local "cochon de Bayeux" and my boyfriend ordered the fish of the day. The fish was not fresh... More
