Tried the lunch menu on a Thursday and was nicely impressed by the quality of the food, the size of the portions and the flavours. I wanted to try some local specialities and had tried another 'estaminet' (local restaurant) on the same week. Chez la vieille was much nicer. Rustic decoration, affordable lunch menu and quality food. Highly recommended and... More

The dishes were nothern specialities. The Welch was very powerfull but awesome. Very strong taste of cheese, my girlfriend loved it. I tried the chicken pie ( a little bit dissappointing, not much chicken inside) But the staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was great! A must try!

One of the best place to experience the true Northern cuisine! The place was very cozy, great decoration and atmosphere, the staff very attentive (and also speaks really good English, if you're clueless in speaking French), and the food very delicious. We tried the poulet au maroille (a traditional cheese from the North), coupled with beer. It was delicious! Would definitely... More

I really recommend this place. It's cozy, staff is very helpful and the food is very delicious. Good price also present. What else? I would recommend the sausage with pickle sauce and as a main dish the one with gratin cheese. I forgot the name but you can check my pictures. I will be back for sure! We loved it!

There is a fairly strong odour of cheese when you enter this restaurant!!! Probably because "le welsh" and maroille cheese feature heavily on the menu. That aside (unfortunately my daughter is slightly "cheese phobic"!) this is a lovely little restaurant. We visited it on a Wednesday night and it was packed to the rafters which is probably a sign that... More

You're spoilt for choice for dining establishments down La Rue de Gand and Estaminet seemed like a great choice. The restaurant is cosy and feels very French, I'm pretty sure they had the music of Charles Aznavour playing! Leffe Brun was a great choice on draft and we sat down to our bone marrow and beef carpaccio starter. My marrow... More

We were exploring 'old' Lille during a business (conference) visit to the city, and stumbled on this lovely old restaurant by accident. The two of us were warmly welcomed and directed to a corner table near the kitchen. And goodness, what delicious food we saw being walked past us to the different tables. Both starts and the steak main were... More

The choice of restaurants in Rue de Gand in the city of Lille is great. This specific restaurant was attractive for us cause of its special looks and menu. The staff is kind and the food is very nice. (sister restaurant of La Vieille France)

If you are looking for something tipical, this is the place, we were lucky cause we didnt reserve but we still could find a place. We ask two specialities that were really good. The service was very nice. And we pay 35 euros, 2 plates and 2 beers.

My guests wanted to eat something local and had chosen this place because they serve rabbit in there. Rabbit was bit tasteles, creme brulee cold, but I liked carbonnade flamande. You need to make reservation and you can choose just one of two serving times for dinner. If you arrive 5 min earlier you need to wait outside the restaurant.... More
