We have visited and eaten in Les Halles of Lyon and Marseille and therefore when we came across Les Halles of Nimes we decided to come in and taste the local cuisine. The restaurant in on the back side of the Halles. You can either sit on the "bar" around the kitchen or on a seating area. The menu offers... More

We went here with our son a few weeks back for lunch and had a great experience. Don't expect a formal dining experience but do expect imaginative, fresh, hearty local cuisine. You sit within the covered market area so lots of people watching to do as well. Come early or reserve because it is packed at lunchtime. We had oysters... More

The specialsties are delicious : calamaries or duck heart on the grill, or the best : L'Agrillade, a beef marinade with lemon, anchovies, tapenade and onion confie, delicious...! I also recommend the nougat glacé for desert, waow!! Friendly staff. We ate at the bar surrounded by the busy movement of the market. A typical Nimes experience!

This place is situated Inside the large and bustling covered market in the centre of Nîmes. As you would expect it's not exactly pretentious "fine dining", but simple, fresh and delicious food with a "nimois" flavour. You can sit around the central cooking area or at benches on one side. We tried both and you can meet other people at... More

Food is of excellent quality and especially very fresh: the cooks get it from the Halles market which is known to be as fresh as can be :) They have good wines and especially deserts are always delicious! My suggestion: 12 oysters, then the daily meal (plats du jour) and a bit of fresh white wine. You can get Tapas... More

Again we enjoyed our lunch at 'Les Halles Auberge' in Nimes. The unique combination of the great food (fresh and local) and the great ambiance makes it a real French experience in all positive ways. Each time we met other guests next to us and as the ambiance is that friendly, people start talking to each other to share their experiences... We eat lunch at this unpretentious restaurant/cafe in the middle of the covered food market in the center of Nimes about every couple of months. The menu is traditional, local, wholesome food with no attempt at being fine cuisine. What draws us back is being able to sit side by side on the high seats at the counter with locals... More

Walking around in the noisy narrow streets of nîmes center, if you have good luck you'll find this big indoor food market "la coupole" If you are there around lunchtime then don't miss this place. It's simple and efficient. Food is cooked right under your eyes. It's easy, simple but so good ! I will come back.

On arrival, mark your name on the board and wait to be seated. The queue can take up to 30 mins to clear, but after you've marked your name, you can wander round the market for a while. It's worth the wait. The places around the long bar seem to be best, since the atmosphere is excellent and you can... More
