Pleasant setting away from the bustle of much of Carcassonne. The garden is delightful, backing on to the Basilica. The maitre d" does tend to take control of the timing but orchestrates the often young and inexperienced waiters to good effect. The 19euro set menu that we had was exceptional. Beautifully presented and flavoursome. The five fish in Salmon sauce... More

Saying "best meal" needs qualification. We had stayed in Carcassonne for around a week and had eaten in smarter restaurants, cheaper snack type places - quite a variety. By the time we visited Auberge des Lices we were pretty bored with the standard offerings (not cassoulet again!!) and just wanted something simple. We both opted for a rack of lamb... More

We had lunch there and enjoyed a three course meal with cassoulet as a main platter. Everything tasted fresh and very good. Locals recommended this place and we are very happy we listened to them :)

The prix-fixe 19,90 meal is an unbelievable bargain. Gazpacho with jamon, fabulous cassoulet, and dessert. Service was unobtrusive, but perfectly timed. Good English. GO. Enjoy!

Thanks to our TripAdvisor App we were able to escape the usual tourists traps and enjoy a gourmet lunch on this narrow hidden street off the beaten path. The presentation of all the dishes was a treat of the eye and the equal of any top tier restaurant. I enjoyed a summer multi layered salad and my partner an octopus... More

This one is tucked away from the touristy square of old Carcassonne which was one of its appeals. This is a traditional restaurant with a rustic interior with a cosy feel. It has several well priced set menus or al la carte. Delicious food, very good staff with quite good English. Reasonable/good wine list. This was a hearty, tasty and... More

We were recommended to come here for lunch but whilst the food was OK it was not as good as I had been led to believe. Octopus did not go with Serrano ham. The cassoulet was good but far too salty for me. The service was very brusque, efficient and unsmiling. Menu choices were gabbled at us in French -... More

The garden here is lovely sitting in the leigh of st nazaire church and the food was very good, what I would describe as good French home cooking, lamb rack and roasted new potatoes. It was really tasty, no complaints about the food other than it would have been better to have another vegetable served with it. Also if honest,... More

We had a gourmet delight. The food, service, atmosphere and ambiance were superb. And all at a perfectly reasonable and sensible price. Jacqueline and family

My friend and I traveled here in May and absolutely loved this restaurant. Besides being excellent food, the presentation of it was superbly artistic. We had a very small taste of pea soup which was marvelous. Then the fois gras was delicious. But the cassoulet was the winner. The best I had in France - all the wonderful tastes coming... More

Though Le Cite is very commercial..locals appear to be the main people eating at this restaurant..wonderful local fare..not expensive..good wines by the glass. As a solo traveller they were very accomodating and helpful
