This is a highly idiosyncratic restaurant. It is like being a gust in someone's rather odd house. You have to ring a bell to be allowed in. You are shown in past the kitchen to a tine restaurant. The room itself is a collection of interesting old bric a brac and has a lot of character and charm. When we... More

Robert is a bit of a food genius. He describes himself as a flavour combination specialist. And he is - A limited but sufficient menu, always varied and always remarkable. A real find. The atmosphere is calm bordering on quiet. The decor is fascinating, items from French culinary history going back a hundred years including the first french electric ice... More

Although wonderful traditional restaurant setting the French menu was complicated and the English translation wasn't much better. I particularly remember 'slobbery omelette' and Sheepshead stroked by my cousin on the mountains. Quite pretentious and clearly not welcoming for English tourists. The information was so confusing we left before eating.

We chose this restaurant because The Lonely Planet rated it their "Top Choice" in Carcassonne, but it is the last time we will consult that book. Our meal here was disappointing at best. The smoked salmon entree was nothing special. My Scallop dish consisted of THREE scallops in their shells buried in finely chopped vegetables for 34.50 euros. My wife's... More

It is some kind weird to enter Robert house, pass his kitchen where he is working and sit in the small table in what you can guess was the living room, or the library, but that is out it starts. The food is amazing, I had brain and vegetables and was a perfectly balanced dish. It is expensive, impossible to... More

We forgot something important before coming here: to polish our shoes. The waitress who opened the door for us looked at our jeans and dirty shoes as if we were something the cat had dragged in. But we somehow felt that she forgave us when she realized that we were seriously interested in the food. We chose this restaurant because... More

We booked a table for 7 on 28th December 2013. The truffle gratin of noodles was tasteless, served like in the school with burned surface, the scallops were without any taste or even sauce and the vegetables were only boiled, the Cassoulet is too liquid, the content is very poor and the gratin surface almost inexistent. the service is dreadful.... A good friend recommended this restaurant to us and we were excited to have a lovely dinner there. The starter was just fine but in the main course we found a 20 cm long black and white hair. Politely we mentioned it to the waitress hoping for a simple apology. However the French arrogance of the chef reminded us that... More

I dined with a carnivorous friend, she loved her Duck confit in a Tagine, my Quinoa Galette with summer vegetables was ok, but lacking in punch. Desserts were an ok Creme Brulee saved by the addition of lavendar sugar and a very lack lustre Raspberry Millefeuille with tasteless fillng and a burnt bottom. It is very over priced and the... This restaurant makes a welcome change from the huge monotony of tourist fare in Carcassonne. The food was fresh and whoelsome, the atmosphere private and understated and homely. The portions just right (although not of Texan proportions but then not many places are). The wines are individual and offer a variety rarely found at the price - the white Corbiere... More
