A lovely evening sailing peacefully along the Seine, views of its many bridges, shore scenes of people enjoying a the air and music and, especially, passing under the changing lights of the Eiffel Tower. We were welcomed on board with a champagne and appetizer as we took in our surroundings on this classic riverboat restaurant with lamps hanging off the... More

For a long time I had dreamed of celebrating my big 50 birthday on a boat, cruising down the Seine. When my dream finally came true, we celebrated on Le Calife and the experience exceeded my expectations. We were 30 people and every one of us had a most wonderful experience. Every aspect was a delight! Thank you to the... More

Our honeymoon in Paris was far from perfect... but Bateau Le Calife was one of the highlights of our trip! The staff, the boat, the food... EVERYTHING was just PERFECT. I can't really add anything else to what has already been said about this fantastic dinner cruise, but I did want to give them a 5 star vote here on... More

We've done the "big sienna river cruises" and though lovely, this smaller more intimate version of river dining outshines them. The food truly is a highlight, with two menu options for both lunch and dinner (dinner: menu for 103 euro or 69 euro). IMO the dinner selections are much more delicate than other cruises, we haven't tried an entree we... More

Our first nite in Paris and we reserved this dinner cruise along the seine. It was wonderful. The ambience was very nice (stay upstairs tho. The bottom level was noisier). The dinner was delicious and what's not to love dining as Paris scenery floats by? There are two levels of menus. One was 67 euros for three courses and the... More

This is a difficult one for me to review. If I judged it purely on the food I would say it was competent cooking rather than special, well presented and tasty enough. Just for me none of the wow factor other reviewers have described. There are 2 menus and I found the price disparity odd. We chose the 67€ menu... More

Booked this for a birthday celebration after reading the Tripadvisor reviews. So glad we did. We had the lower priced menu, and it was excellent, we all enjoyed our dishes. The staff and whole ambience was excellent, service and timing of each course could not be faulted. We arrived at the Eiffel Tower at 10pm, spot on for the start... More

We went on this cruise the first night we got to paris. Although very expensive it was worth it for the once in a lifetime views. We got to experience a different side of paris with great food and service!

Honestly, I was very skeptical about booking a "touristy" Seine river cruise; but I am glad one of my friends talked me out of it. 'The Calife' is NOT the usual overcrowded/overbooked tourist traps that you hear about. It's neatly planned & laid out, the food is well prepared and the service doesn't disappoint either ! At min 70 Eur/... More

This is my second time. We ordered the expensive menu and it was well worth it. I had the lamb, which was superb and my husband had the duck, which he loved. For desert I had the apple tart, which is one of the best deserts I have ever had. What a lovely way to spend the night in a... More

Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighborhood Profile
Saint-Germain-des-Pres
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighborhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighborhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
