Second visit La Grand Assiette de Fromage is a very nice selection of cheeses. It also comes with bread and a sprinkle of walnuts. There is a nice selection of wine. They have only a few tables out front so you may have to wait or you can go into the back of the wine shop. But this is a... More

We visited Paris in a few days and we tried to make the best out of it, visiting the Must See and trying as much as we could. On our last evening the plan was to visit Montmartre. We headed there late afternoon too avoid the most touristy time. During my research I came across this place so I tried... More

We ordered stewed beef and duck breast, as the waitress suggested, we had the duck medium done and it turned out as a good suggestion . The beef was tender juicy with tasty gravy. The waitress was kind, helped to charge our phone, which was much appreciated. Will be there again next time go to that area.

Hello New Wine Makers Generation, Good-bye Robert M. Parker, Jr. !!! This is the Temple of the Organic &/or Nature Wine, for pure classic pleasure, for an initiation or a discovery, to travel light years away from main stream commercial/standardize/Parkerize production. The quality of the food is, as well, amassing. A.O.C. Goat milk cheese from the Loire Valley: "Valençay, Pouligny,... More

I have been in a lot of places like this and I can say that despite a medium quality of food and wine they have a bad attitude with the customer, no suggestions, no smile on face. They tried to make us pay more by putting a couple of meals we didnt even order on the bill!! Be careful!

Had lunch here a couple of days ago and was pleasantly surprised. We shared a mixed plate of cheeses, pates, hams, sausage and rillettes (14 euros). Eaten with crisp baguette and washed down with a decent Bordeaux. Plenty for both of us and a real treat.

In the montmartre area the Abesses is the place to go for good eating with many choices. We chose Cave des Abbesses and enjoyed a great lunch platter of terrine, cheese and meays washed down with one of the huge selection of white wines. Eu 31 for 2 was excellent value.

Do not expect fancy gastronomy ,,,,,but rather great wines to go pretty basic, tasty and authentic foods. The best part if this place is that there are no tourists? Why? Because when you walk in you think it is a wine shop.....only by going to the very back do you see ther 8 tables and waiter. A great hideout indeed!

Staying in Montmartre

Neighborhood Profile
Montmartre
Montmartre is a bustling mix of cultures, colors, and styles which changes from one street to another. Ride the funicular (or, for a real workout, climb the steps) to the sublime Sacré-Coeur (Basilica of the Sacred Heart) with its inspiring view of the city. The church is surrounded by provincial streets and piano bars where tourists, artists, and street entertainers thrive. At the foot of the hill, Boulevard de Clichy features shops not intended for young audiences, while residences are scattered to the north and east. The diverse population includes a large part from the Arab-speaking world, Africa, and Turkey. It’s a corner of Paris full of life and dynamism with charms that can’t be found anywhere else.
