Taverne Henri IV, Bar a vin, on the Pont Neuf will remind you of all the things you love about Paris. A traditional wine bar with extraordinary history, it offers excellent wines by the glass or bottle, well-prepared simple bar food such as quiche, terrine, or a delicious cheese plate; there's even ice cream for the kids. French enough that... More

Visited Taverne Henri IV for the second time, this time in May 2016, and enjoyed it again. My girlfriend had one of the Plat du Jour items, the Quiche Lorraine w/salad. It was a good size meal and she really enjoyed it as well as others that came in to eat on the rainy day. For myself I enjoyed the... More

Given that this is on the main island this bar still feels authentically local. My girlfriend and I had made a point of finding this place and were not disappointed. Great service, the wines were fantastic and to top it off they have the best cheese board I have ever had. Will make a point of coming back here every... More

A friend suggested that I look up this restaurant while visiting Paris. On a snowy, cloudy day it was wonderful warm, cozy, and quaint restaurant. The onion soup was exceptional! The service was excellent! I was made to feel welcome and the wine list featured some excellent choices. The cheese and pork are exceptional. The pear crepe topped off the... More

We stumbled across this place by accident. It's a really welcoming cosy little place just right for lunch that was jammed full of Parisiens at lunch. We had a nice hot bowl of tastey onion soup and glass of wine we really needed after a long breezy walk along the Seine from the Eiffel tower to Notre Dame. A real... More

My girlfriend and I had a wonderful experience here! In our Paris stay we were hoping to try a lot of cheese. This was a great place to start. We ordered a two person plate of 6 cheeses. Our server suggested a couple of wines which we felt came out to be good choices. I'm exact cheeses they use may... More

We visited here after wandering round the ilê de cite and Notre dame. The owner/manager was very friendly, particularly given we attempted our limited French speaking ability. There was a great selection of wines to choose from, and we opted for a couple of glasses of Cremant (champagne style wine from the Loire Valley). We liked it so much we... More

Located on the middle of the Pont Neuf, in front of the statue of king Henri IV on his (supposedly white) horse, this small and friendly tavern was a family business for many generations. The current owner continues with proud the business and offer a simple and tasty menu with daily specials and a nice wine list form small producers.... More

Excellent. Good atmosphere, good service, good food and vine, very old building, Paris, expensive! Nice place to relax after sight seeing’s.

We visited this place for lunch after my partner announced she had been before last year with her parents and had loved it. Quite small and too easy to walk past as the front door is where ice cream is served. Neat old style layout with pleasant wait staff, shown to a table and presented with menus. Selected a nice... Staying in Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis

Neighborhood Profile
Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis
Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité, sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island, welcomes you with cozy traditional eateries, small boutiques, and what some people say is the best ice cream in the city. This is essential Paris from its very beginnings to its modern appeal.
