We got this tip from a friend and were surprised to find at the Ile de France a restaurant like this. It's a comfortable place. Service is friendly and efforts are being made to satisfy the customer. The food was excellent from the starters to the dessert. We can highly recommend to have a nice evening there.

I am always impressed with Parisian cuisine. So I wanted to have a excellent meal when my wife and I (along with her parents) visited the city for one night. I was not disappointed with Au Bougnat. I would highly recommend this restaurant for their friendly staff and warm atmosphere. This quaint little restaurant will not disappoint.

We were staying in the same street and ended up having 4 dinners here. The specials changed every day and we enjoyed everything. Could not resist the bread or desserts. Most of the places we saw were packed with tourists and service was disinterested. The staff here welcomed us each evening like old friends.

Tucked away behind Rue D'Arcole this lovely little restaurant could be easily missed and that in my view would be a shame. I had found this restaurant on TA and set my mind on visiting as I was staying nearby. And we were not disappointed. Warmly welcomed and shown into the neat little dining room we were soon settling in... More

Upon arriving to Paris around noon, we went for lunch to Au Bougnat since it was within a block of our acommodation and was recommended by our host. We were so glad we did! The filo filled with sliced apples and a round of cheese with mescalin salad was excellent. The pork ribs served with an eggplant puree was even... More

Daughter living close a year worked this one out. Great if you like French country inspired food. However I went for the pork cheeks & leek & egg starter advertised on their web page. Neither on offer. Poor excuse offered but we didn't have to travel far so not that important. Good value wines as well. I was more than... More

A friend recommended this place to me and I'm so glad he did! Very close to Notre Dame, you'd think it would be more touristy. You'd be wrong. The set-up is a little different, in that you have to order 2 parts, i.e. starter & dinner or dinner & dessert. I think you can always add additional, but you cannot... More

We tried this restaurant after visiting Notre-Dame (it's one block North of it) and we really liked it. The service was excellent and the place itself has the charm of an old bistro. The food was excellent too. They was 4 of us and we had escargots, foie gras, filet de boeuf, hamburger (not the American version) and for dessert... More

Went for the plat du jour which was very good albeit fractionally risky if you're fussy about particular foods such as veal or raw tuna. Hadn't tried either before but decided to go for it and really pleased I did! In total - for 4 courses with a bottle of wine, water and a couple of aperitifs - it came... More

Staying in Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis

Neighborhood Profile
Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis
Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité, sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island, welcomes you with cozy traditional eateries, small boutiques, and what some people say is the best ice cream in the city. This is essential Paris from its very beginnings to its modern appeal.
